Chipolopolo forward Fashion Sakala was among the scorers on another busy weekend for Zambian players abroad, while Klings Kangwa, Miguel Chaiwa and Lubambo Musonda all impressed for their respective clubs.
In Armenia, winger Joseph Sabobo Banda played 74 minutes as FC Alashkert secured a 3-1 victory over Gandzasar. The win lifted Alashkert to third place on 47 points.
Meanwhile in Austria, Kingston Mutandwa and SV Ried suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.
In Germany, veteran winger Lubambo Musonda completed the full match as 1. FC Magdeburg eased to a 3-1 victory over Holstein Kiel in the 2. Bundesliga. The result moved Magdeburg up to 12th place on 39 points.
Over in Italy, Lameck Banda featured for 76 minutes as US Lecce fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Juventus FC. Fellow Zambian winger Joseph Liteta missed Cagliari Calcio’s 2-0 loss to Udinese Calcio due to a thigh injury.
In Israel, Klings Kangwa continued his fine form, producing an assist in Hapoel Be’er Sheva’s entertaining 4-2 victory over Hapoel Petah Tikva in the Israeli Premier League.
In Scotland, midfielder Miguel Chaiwa delivered a solid 75-minute performance as Hibernian FC defeated Falkirk FC 3-1.
Sakala was again on the scoresheet in Saudi Arabia, netting for Al-Fayha FC in their 2-1 defeat to Al Qadsiah FC. The strike was the forward’s 13th goal of the campaign, to add to his five assists this season.
And in South Africa, Gamphani Lungu produced a remarkable individual display with a hat-trick for Siwelele FC, although they eventually fell 7-4 to champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC in a thrilling Betway Premiership encounter.
