Chipolopolo number one goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene yesterday put up a man of the match performance for his Mamemlodi Sundowns team as he helped them gain a point off Orlando Pirates in a 1 – 1 away draw.
Mweene who has so far featured in 11 of the club’s 14 league matches was however at fault for the goal conceded after he misjudged the flight of the corner kick when he came off his line but failed to make contact for Pirates to equalize through Bacela in the 31st minute.
The Zambian shot stopper was lucky not to concede in the second half again when the Sundowns defence again failed to deal with a cross from the left for the Pirates striker to head past Mweene only to see the ball come off the upright.
However, Mweene was on top of his game for most periods of the match showing good judgement in coming off his line as sweeper and saving from one on one situations for him to be named Absa premiership man of the match.
Sundowns are in 3rd position on the log.
There was also a massive win for Christopher Katongo and his Bidvest Wits team mates when they beat Clifford Mulenga’s Ajax Cape Town 4 – 2 to move into second position.
Katongo started the match and completed 65 minutes but it was his fellow striker Sibusiso Vilakazi who stole the show with a hat-trick.
Mulenga on the other hand was introduced as a 73rd minute substitute but his efforts could not help yield a goal despite being deployed just behind the main striker.
Bidvest Wits who will play in the CAF Confederations Cup next year are currently in second position on the log while Ajax are in fourth position.

If Mweene is given the armband as demanded by many bloggers here, Zambia’s journey in Eq Guinea will be smooth. Mweene will get motivated and will retire some west african players at afcon.
I don’t mean Ghanaian players coz they have Senegal, Algeria and RSA to deal with them.
And pipo keep yapping we need Clifford, we need Clifford and yet he starts on the bench in SA. Ine mpapafye nati why do pipo cry over spilt milk
@ ex zit- From the little time you watch him coming from the bench, how do you seem him yourself? because its not just a question of coming from the bench, maybe the coach doesn’t like him the way Singuluma was to heavy leaner.
Awe Ba Nazo bakalamba, Clifford’s time with the National Team is gone with Sautus, Patson Dakas, Patrick Ngomas, Sates, Larry Bwalyas, Christopher Zulus etc. Clifford should have managed his chances better, what an exceptional talent he is though!
@ Uncle Bobs – Not this Africa cup but the coming one in 2017.
