Chipolopolo midfielder Obino Chisala and his Al Merreikh teammates have arrived in Ndola ahead of their CAF Champions League First Preliminary Round second-leg encounter against Power Dynamos.
The Sudanese giants touched down in Ndola as they prepare for Saturday’s decisive return leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, scheduled for 15:00 hours on September 12.
Al Merreikh head into the fixture with a slender advantage after securing a 1-0 victory over Power Dynamos in the first leg in Rwanda last weekend.
Chisala, who has established himself as an important part of the Al Merreikh setup, will be hoping to feature once again as the Sudanese side looks to protect its advantage and secure progression to the next round of Africa’s premier club competition.
However, Oswald Mutapa and his Abayellow will have other ideas.
Power Dynamos know they must produce a stronger performance on home soil and overturn the one-goal deficit if they are to keep their continental campaign alive.
The Kitwe-based side will draw confidence from playing in front of their home supporters, with Mutapa expected to demand greater attacking intent from his charges while ensuring they remain defensively disciplined.
With only one goal separating the two sides, the tie remains finely poised. A 1-0 victory for Power Dynamos would take the contest to a penalty shootout, while any victory by two or more goals would see Abayellow advance.
Al Merreikh, meanwhile, will be looking to frustrate the hosts and make their first-leg advantage count.
The stage is therefore set for a fascinating second leg in Ndola, with Power Dynamos needing to overturn the deficit and Al Merreikh determined to complete the job.
