Zambia Super League side, Kabwe Warriors has appointed former Zambia national team boss George Lwandamina as their new head coach.
The former Young Africans and ZESCO United boss has penned a two year deal with the Magnificent People’s team. Lwandamina takes over from Chris Kaunda whose short term contract will end on 30th June.
“Kabwe Warriors Football Club is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mr. George Lwandamina as the New Head Coach on a two year contract.”
Lwandamina will take charge of the team effective 1st July ahead of the start of the 2022/2023 season.
Kabwe Warriors Football Club General Manager Charles Chakatazya confirmed the appointment of Mr. Lwandamina today.
“I would like to confirm that Mr. George Lwandamina has signed a two-year contract effective 1st July as the Head Coach for Kabwe Warriors. He joins the team with vast experience, his last club being AZAM FC in Tanzania,” Chakatazya told Kabwe Warriors media.
“He is a coach that everyone in the league would want to have and he is a coach that is result oriented. We wish him all the best and welcome him to Kabwe Warriors,” Chakatazya added.
According to the club Lwandamina’s assistants will be made known in due course.
New Warriors chairman Mutale Ng’andu is targeting the league title and has identified Lwandamina as the man to deliver silverware at the Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium.
The team last won the title in 1987 and that was the 5th.
The Njanji-ni-Njanji fame won four league titles between 1967 and 1972 during the days of Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu.
Warriors’ last piece of silverware was in 2007 led by little known Henry Banda and then 17 year old Emmanuel Mayuka when they won their third Bp top 8 trophy in 5 years (2002, 2003, 2005, 2007)

As lazy as they come! He doesn’t inspire confidence and hard work. Regrettably Warriors will learn one of the hard lessons about this guys behaviour. That he exudes the attitude that no local club or official can control him and that he knows it all!
