Chipolopolo interim head coach George Lwandamina has extended his stay at Nchanga Rangers after signing a new two-year contract, bringing an end to speculation surrounding his future.
Lwandamina had attracted interest from ZESCO United, who were reportedly considering a move for the experienced tactician. However, the Ndola giants have since shifted their focus to George Chilufya, with a deal believed to be nearing completion.
The announcement was confirmed by Nchanga Rangers on Friday, with Club President Eng. David Mukumbuta Mukelabai expressing his satisfaction at securing the services of the veteran coach for the foreseeable future.
“We are delighted that Coach George Lwandamina has committed his future to Nchanga Rangers Football Club. His leadership and experience have been instrumental to the progress of the team, and we remain fully committed to supporting him and the technical bench as we prepare for the 2026 Transitional League,” Mukelabai said.
Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Brian Siatubi also welcomed the development, reaffirming the mining firm’s commitment to supporting the club’s ambitions.
“As KCM, we are delighted that he has extended his stay at Nchanga Rangers. We are confident that the community and all stakeholders will welcome this decision. As KCM, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting the club,” Siatubi stated.
Lwandamina, who guided Nchanga Rangers through a promising campaign, pledged to build on the progress made last season as the club intensifies preparations for the 2026 Transitional League.
The club has further indicated that updates regarding player recruitment and squad strengthening will be communicated as the off-season unfolds.
