Below are Lubambo’s responses during an interview at his new club Gandzasar Kapan of Armenia
I came to Armenia last month. The team here made contact with me saying they were interested in my services and I agreed.
My former team Ulisses was also interested in my services but after some discussions, I opted to come and play for the Kapan team.
I played Kapan before coming here when I was at Ulisses and I knew them as a solid team which had good players. They are always a solid ‘nut’, not easy to play.
When I first walked into the Gandzasar Kapan dressing room, I felt the joy of being here, I was warmly welcomed and I was greatly encouraged by everyone the first time I stepped on the pitch to play. The atmosphere in the team is quite good here. Everyone wants to win and everyone is always 100% devoted to the cause. I am hoping with this dedication and hard work, we will celebrate many victories.
I find it hard to compare Ulisses and Gandzasar. I will say both teams are good, so I cannot say which is better, both have very good players. But Ulisses have almost completely changed the composition of the team with most old timers being let go.
On his choice of the shirt number…..
I just chose the number 89 because I love it and I am pleased with it, there is no other reason.
I want the fans to continue to support us, we will not disappoint them. Their support is very important for us. When we play football, first and foremost it is for the pleasure of the fans.

Continue working hard young man. One day the doors will open to even some much better leagues. keep it up.
This boy will go places if he remain displine I’m happy for Aaron kateba he has sign for a morroccan club which is participating in the caf champion league I wish him all the best and the moroccan league is better than the south african league so its good for him
I think export our players to north Africa can be better than exporting them south africa because the league there is stronger just my opinion guys
Qualify your opinion on it being stronger. What brought you to that conclusion?
I was wondering too
How many Zambian players have made it to Europe from your so called North African strong leagues? Trials included, Answer only Fwayo Tembo who moved from a Tunisian club to Basel in Switzerland. The rest have come back home with nothing, except for Bubble Malitoli who made a name for himself at Esperence
Playing in South Africa is a better place for Zambian players due to the following facts
1. The culture is not very different, as such young players get familiar easily and very quickly
2. Home is near for especially the one guys
3. In SA no one will influence you to change your religion and get married against your wish ( like late Freddy Mwila jr.)
It is difficult to play in the North African league, for you will be treated as a second class citizen or is short slave. We have a lot of examples
Apart from SA, Israel is another good destination for younger players with ambitions
True @Mr Kafusha. Well said.
wishng u all the best Aron katebe.
Good luck to him. Its too early but i feel he must play a super sub role fir us like he did for Janza. He hasnt started well in the national team so far.
@ THE UNDEFEATED GORO thanks for the update on Katebe.
Lubambo should start on the right wing and Kalaba on the left wing and we should play with a high line thus thrusting them into more attack positions.
u r correct.too much jealous in the south african league
SA league is a familiar environment like zambia, and lot of our good perfoming players have more opportunities to play in europe and cultural differences dont matter there…north african clubs dnt export players to europe easily as much as there nearer, thats why most of their players playing overseas are those who are born in europe and changed nationalities..escept for egypt
I don’t care what your personal opinion might be guys! most of you people don’t know South Africa as you are not living here. We know South Africa very well coz We stay here, I would tell you candidly! it takes a lot of nerves to play and work in South Africa. About 75% of the indigenous people (citizens)of this Country are highly xenophobic including Afro – phobic. I have been here for over 11 years. Earnestly, you need to be emotionally strong to live in a foreign land like this land. Don’t laugh at these players when they are not preforming, I for one understand players like Kalaba – please stop judging, and ranting at these boys “they have nerves of steel”.
These players need to be above average to be considered for a slot in the main team (A). I, further, will not laugh at Mayuka I know what He might be going through.
It is the same in Europe
Well said brother
When you look at clubs that are doing well in Africa a lot of them are from north Africa.just check how many clubs are in club stages.the problem with south african they don’t respect the foregners players they think that they players are the best just visit kickoff my friends you will see the coments which south african makes one soccer fan called mbesuma a big mama and a lot of sundown fans normally blames mweene when the team lost so I
Comments from fans/supporters about players should not be taken seriously. It is part of the game even in local football. One soccer fan calling Mbesuma a big mama (so what), will not change anything about Mbesuma. We all know and are very aware to the fact that on planet earth human beings come in different sizes. We also know that fans can blame any player when their team loses, this happens everywhere and is not a new thing
My other point is that as a foreigner in any country, in order for you to get a job in any field soccer included, you have to be twice better than the local ones, and I see logic in that
No No No, South Africans yes are xenophobic, but most Zambian players are respected including the same Mbesuma .Critics will always be there, Mweene his performance has dropped so is Mbesuma. Kennedy used to be the best Goal stopper from 2009-2012 in PSL. Our players had enjoyed game time with great support from PSL fans. During 2005-2009 Mbesuma was the great player in the PSL, during his era at Chiefs. He netted 25 goals in a season. No player currently has done that in PSL. Just to mention, Christ Katongo, James Chamanga ,Lota ,Isaac Chansa, Kennedy Mweene, were highly respected .Fans won’t support previous performance. Its a challenge to every player to up the performance, but also age is a key factor to our players.
