AARON Katebe has clinched a two-year deal with Moroccan first division side FES Maghreb athletic de tetouan.
Katebe was broken into the Chipolopolo main squad after being a fringe player for a while a delivered a man of the match performance in Zambia’s first 2017 Afcon qualifier against Equatorial Guinea.
The Moroccan league is on recess and will resume on September 4 after the Maghreb athletic de tetouan takes part in the Charity Shield against AS Sale.
Maghreb athletic de tetouan finished last season in fourth position.
The 23 year old moves to Morocco from Zimbabwean side Platinum.

Good move. Moroccan league is of good standards
far better than zimbabwe .
Nice one Katebe
u have better chances to play in la liga jst remain focused and displine
You are right bro.
I just wish him the best because morocco league is better than some xempioc league in southan africa were they call forgners players names like big mama.I’m worried with emmanuel manyuka guys because we are only remaining with few days before the transfer widow close I only hope that he finds a club.anyone with the latest about manyuka
It is also worrying to me that Mayuka has no team yet. We should remember that the last two things he did in a competitive match (for the Chipolopolo Boys) were to score a goal and then get injured trying valiantly to score another. Best of luck to the young man!
thats what we want to our players for zambia be have a strong team.
I can also agree with UNDEFEATED GORO that the northafrican ligue is better than psl or even the west african ligue.
west african ligue is not better than southern african ligue
How do u classify or define how league A is better than league B?
From your arguments, it seems to me that, yours is based only on quality infrastructures but that’s just a part of the whole pic!!!
If quality infrastructure defines a league, then south Africa wld be presenting quality players from their league but the opposite is the case!
If infrastructure defines the quality of a league, then England ll be performing incredible at the WC but the opposite is the case!!
Infrastructure alone doesn’t play football and the southern African league is not better than west Africa league!!
WEST Africa league has produced all the world superstars across all the elite leagues in Europe with their poor infrastructures!!
Good for Katebe that he has clinched this deal. Lets hope he makes the starting eleven in the game against Kenya alongside Sunzu although in most likelihood it will be Kondwani that will partner Sunzu.
Congrats on your new deal and we can only hope that you put your heart into every game.
but west africans they have strong nationals teams in africa national teams in africa.
west african national teams they hav more professionals playing in europe.
Are u sure? For the past 9 afcon tornaments, west africa won 2 {i.e Nigeria 1, Ivory coast 1 & 0 for ????? }. Central africa 2 (i.e Cameroun 2). Southern africa 1 (Zambia) and North africa 4 [i.e Tunisia 1, Egypt 3]. North african teams are the best!
Good response. We have a tendency to rate a team based on their individual player impact abroad and not on team performance. West Africa has the best individual African football exports outside of Africa but of late the National team performances or achievements are nothing to write home about and the stats in your response depict that perfectly.
@big steve, its pathetic to measure the strength of national teams based on AFCON titles alone cos that’s only a fraction of how the world recognize a nations CLASS in world football, pls don’t follow that lame and mediocre argument of that crass mental above u to drag u into his shallow thinking, cos his jaundiced stats is for him alone to tickle himself and laugh.
Have u wondered y Holland always gets seeded in both EURO and world cup competitions even though its been long since they won the euros and had never won the world cup? CLASS!!!!!!!!!!
Now decipher on these two scenarios;y is it that Algeria, haven’t performed so poorly in nations cup for sometime have gotten the shine recently in 2014 world cup and have even culminated in them been ranked the best in Africa? OR Egypt until recently was nation’s cup lords but have failed to ride on those successes to qualify for the world cup and had even affected their rankings which is KEY in seeding for qualification to any serious competition that can fetch a country not less than 10 million dollars?
The answer among many is simple, its not because of the strength of their local leagues or AFCON titles but their player exodus and mentality in the big leagues.Having players in the big leagues rubbing shoulders with the best is akin to meeting same players in world-cup competitions so that question of inferiority complex is quashed.Research on African countries that have qualified for the world-cup and checkout the teams their players played for then come again.
You are one of the most level headed analyst on African soccer I have come across in several years. People like Mumbi rest on a single AFCON to rate their country. I hope he learns some sense in your analysis here. Today, Dede Ayew of Ghana has helped Swansea to defeat Manchester United. This is news worldwide. His ranking will be higher than the guy who helped Ivory Coast to the 2015 AFCON.
On the world stage, countries appearing at the World Cup are more recognized than those struggling at the group stages in the qualifiers. Win AFCON several times and never appear at the world cup. You are not known then.
Uruguay has won the world cup only once – but Louis Suarez & Falcao alone are recognized worldwide than most African countries (in terms of soccer), Playing for Barcelona, Man U, Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munchen is a plus to a player. If Mumbi’s analytical intelligence is not up to that level, leave him alone and let serious, sensible and mature minds do the thinking for him,
Poor Soul. What about appearances at world cups? The West Africans have dominated where it mattered. Only a couple of West African countries have not been to the World Cup . ZAMBIA has never been there & we bluff on the last 9 years at Afcon? POOR US. Let us matter where it matters.
Welcome back Mumbi. Where have you been? Miss you. The North Africans are the best and who are the worst? The West or East? I know the Southerners are the second best in Africa with their numerous appearances at the world cup and winning AFCON almost every year.
So far we hav two clubs in southern africa playing continetal football TP mazembe and orlando pirates, 12 clubs in northern african, 1 from west africa, Stade malien, and 1 from central africa, AC leopards.
That’s how you qualify a statement by stating facts behind it not how bloggers like THE UNDEFEATED GORO just go on a rant about how the PSL is useless but have nothing to qualify their statement.
Morroco have had very strong representation in the Confederation Cup but have had very little impact in the CAF champions league. If I go back just as far as 2010 Morroco have had representation in the Confederation Cup consistently. This in my opinion qualifies their league as strong.
This is a very good move for Aaron Katebe. I like it. Be strong man as Arabs are very difficult people to live with. I am speaking from experience when I worked in Saudi Arabia 7 years ago.
zambian players shoud not aim at playing in the psl.that league is good for our neghbours.zambian players are too good for that simple jealous infested league.atlst let them play for the mighty tp mazembe or north africa as the last resort not that useless league.the psl style of play is not generaly impressive
Good move boy! Wishing you all the best.
Big steve you are 100% right. Well done Katebe. U will go places . Hard working is key.
Big steve look at this.the teams from north africa are doing well compared from south african teams in terms of continent.every year you will have a good representive from countries like algeria tunisia morocco and egypt while in south africa its only orlando pirates which is strong in continent games.you saw the perfomace of kaizer chiefs
The other thing why I don’t like the south african is that they put too much pressure on forgners example is kennedy mweene at sundown.whenever they lose they call mweene all sort of names visit kickoff you will see the comments
Zambian midfielder chisamba lungu is back to full training with his club FC ural after he sustain an injury in training he is especting to make a line up for his club.this is good news to zambia game agnaist kenya
@THE UNDEFEATED GORO It is a good news for Zambia if he will not be at the bench again
If chicken George puts him on the bench again then I don’t know what the coach is smoking…..
How true is the information am getting. the whole of the Southern Africa only Orlando Pirate that won the Caf Champions league once in 1995.
Yes that’s true, its the only club in the region.
In this region we have many of those type of things.
Kalu only player in the region to win African footballer of the year, and remember that was in 1988. We have failed for a combined total of 27 years to produce a single player. The only one who came nearest was Benni who made it to the top four.
Benni Mcarthy only African player in the region to win UEFA champions league. With the multitude of exports from the region to Europe this is actually pretty embarrassing.
let me stop just there…im beginning to depress myself.
On casafa region its only orlando pirates its true
We have 2 teams from our region, TPM inclusive. ZAMBIA is in both southern and central african regions just like Sudan which is in both east and north africa.
I AGREE WITH MUMBI THAT WE TWO TEAMS IN SOUTHERN REGION TP MAZEMBE and ORLANDO PIRATES.
@ Mumbi: how many times have the West Africans represented AFRICA at the World Cup ? They have been representing us for a while – Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Ivory Coast, MALI, Togo ….. ZAMBIA HAS NEVER BEEN THERE. Think about when we may qualify on the world stage. That is what matters. The World Stage. This is where Nigeria, Ghana & Ivory Coast have made their names in soccer not a single AFCON win which gives you no name recognition. Nations at the World Cup are rated higher than a single Afcon (fluke) win. Take this fact or leave it.
Where is Zambias ranking compared to the West Africans? Can’t beat them . We have to join them. There are currently several West Africans playing in the EPL. No ZAMBIAN in the EPL. Why? Ghana has about four or five ; nigeria has a similar number, Ivory Coast has a similar number etc etc etc ZAMBIA has zero. POOR MUMBI
