Lubambo, Kabwe, Kangwa and Daka – Who will be next Chipolopolo captain

Chipolopolo head coach Avram Grant is expected to name a new skipper of the side when the  team regroups next week.

Enock Mwepu was forced into early retirement after he was diagnosed with a heart condition last year.

Lubambo Musonda captained the Chipolopolo last November during the 4-2 loss to Israel.

The Danish based winger is one of the most experienced players in the team and has already captained the team before hence he looks like a very formidable contender for the role.

South Africa based Rodrick Kabwe is another player who has captained the team before due to his leadership skills.

Striker Evans Kangwa who recently joined a Chinese Premier League side is another contender for Chipolopolo captain.

Kangwa captained the 2012 African Champions back in 2020

Kangwa was picked to captain Chipolopolo against Bafana Bafana on October 11 just 24 hours after defender Kabaso Chongo was expelled from the team in Nairobi by coach Milutin Sredojevic citing technical reasons following a 2-1 away friendly loss to Kenya.

Leicester City forward Patson Daka is another option to lead the team in the two games against Likuena.

The former Salzburg forward has experience as a captain as he led the U-17 back in 2015.

Zambia will host the first leg of the two matches against Lesotho at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on March 23rd, with the game scheduled to kickoff at 18h00 (GMT 16H00).

Lesotho will host the return match at Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg on March 26th with kickoff set at 15h00 (GMT 13H00).

Both Chipolopolo and Likuena have 3 points after two rounds of matches.
