Kafue Celtic secured a 2-1 victory over Kitwe United, Chipata City Council FC claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Indeni FC, while River Plate and Aguila Stars shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw in Wednesday’s ZPL National League Week 32 fixtures.
At the Croc Swamp, Kafue Celtic made a dream start with Elias Mudolo opening the scoring after just one minute before Chama Chansa doubled the advantage in the seventh minute to put the home side firmly in control.
Kitwe United responded through Hulad Banda in the 22nd minute, reducing the deficit and setting up a tense contest, but Kafue Celtic held on to collect all three points.
The win takes the Crocs to 55 points and fourth in the ZPL Men’s National League table.
In Chipata, Chipata City Council FC left it late to overcome Indeni FC thanks to a decisive penalty from Nsama Mukalula in the 76th minute.
After a tightly contested affair with few clear chances, Mukalula kept his composure from the spot to hand Chipata City a valuable victory and deny Indeni a crucial away point.
The win takes Chipata City Council to 33 points and out of the relegation Zone to 14th place on the log.
Meanwhile, River Plate and Aguila Stars played out a dramatic 2-2 draw in one of the most entertaining matches of the day.
Aguila Stars struck first through Thomas Mwambazi in the 57th minute, but River Plate responded strongly as Desmond Nyirenda equalised on the hour mark before Moffat Mulela completed the turnaround in the 72nd minute.
Just when it looked like River Plate would take maximum points, Keke Sipuka scored deep into stoppage time in the 93rd minute to rescue a point for Aguila Stars and silence the home crowd.
The result means Riverplate have been relegated to the Provincial League joining Mpulungu Harbour.
