It is said that for one to be the best, not only should they learn from the ‘best’ but must also emulate them. In the football context, it is no different.
ZamFoot Crew caught up with Zambian national team goalkeeper, Lameck Siame after yesterday’s morning session at Heroes Stadium with the provisional Chipolopolo squad preparing for the upcoming crucial Qatar World Cup Qualifiers.
Siame took time to share personal experiences about learning from the ‘best’ and signing a new three-year-deal with Zanaco F.C.
“My national duty experience has been the best football moment so far. Speaking of such is the international friendly against Senegal, where I faced people I only watch on TV, the likes of Mane, Koulibaly, Mendy and others,” said the elated Siame.
The goal custodian expressed happiness on signing for the Bankers, one of biggest teams on the local scene. He vowed to help his new club conquer all who will come in their way.
When asked the reasons for leaving Kabwe Warriors, who will be also campaigning in the CAF inter-club competitions as will be Zanaco, Siame said the time was ripe for a new experience.
“I just thought it’s a good time to make a move and try my experience in another team and with good performance,” Siame said. “I have confidence and hope that it shall be a successful mission with Zanaco.”
In spite Zanaco already having a proven and long serving goal-minder in Racha Kola, which makes the first-choice spot in the goalkeeping department very competitive, Siame is not very worried.
“Performance matters and we are good friends with Racha kola. And as brothers, I am happy being with him.”
With his new team challenging for silverware, both on the local and continental scene, Siame will be expected to bring his a-game and energetic prowess between the sticks to inspire better results and help his newly joined club win trophies.
“I think winning the league will be a great achievement for me and the club. And to reach CAF final stages. I think all this is possible.” Siame confidently said.
Football is a game of fond memories and to go in the history books is as good as achieving the legendary status with an unforgotten hero tag. Lameck Siame wants to be remembered as one of the best players of his era to achieve remarkable honors.
“I want to be remembered as someone who did something for the club, helping the team to achieve memorable things,” Siame concluded.
Siame and Team will be participating in the CAF champions league. They have a date against Akonangui Futbol Club of Equatorial Guinea in the first round of preliminary matches.
The Bankers visit Malabo in the first leg match during the weekend of September 10-12, with the second leg following in Lusaka between September 17-18.
