Zambian winger Lameck Banda scored for Maccabi Petah Tikva in the 2-1 defeat to Hapoel Tev Aviv on Saturday in the first match of the year.
Maccabi Petah Tikva went into the game needing a victory as they are bottom of the league table.
Former Hapoel Tel Aviv coach Nir Klinger returned to his former side with Maccabi Petah Tikva hoping to cause an upset.
The first half was well balanced between the two sides.
In the 71st minute, Osher Davida gave Hapoel Tel Aviv the lead but was cancelled out by Banda 5 minutes later.
This was the Lusaka born’s 3rd goal of the campaign in 16 appearances.
Yoav Tomer then broke Maccabi Petah Tikva’s hearts with an injury time winner for the reds.

Maccabi Petah Tikva remain bottom on 14 points while Hapoel Tel Aviv are 3rd on the log with 26 points.
Justin Zulu’s former team Hapoel Beer Sheva lead the pack on 37 points while Emmanuel Mayuka’s former team Maccabi Tel Aviv are 4th on the log with 25 points.
Banda is on loan from Russian side Arsenal Tula.
Athletico Lusaka striker Kingstone Mutandwa is also on the books of Maccabi Petah Tikva but he is currently with the youth side.
