Kola nets brace for Ligat ha’Al leaders

Rogers Kola’s blistering form in front of goal continued on Saturday evening, as he helped himself to a brace in his club Ironi Kiryat Shmona’s 3 – 1 away win at Maccabi Haifa.

Kola who started and completed the match for the league leaders opened the scores in the 19th minute before team mate Mizrachi extended the lead to two.

Maccabi Haifa pulled one back in the 77th minute through Vered to make for an exciting finish as the hosts pressed for an equaliser.

However, the Zambia hitman put the game beyond reach for the home side as he completed his brace in the referees optional time.

This was Kola’s 7th goal in 12 league games.

  1. I will keep on saying this….Kola deserves a call-up ,performing players are what we want in the Squad . Janza please we need quality on the bench not deadwood.

  2. You Zambians you never cease to amaze me when ever you hear a foreign based player scores then you rush to call for him to be part of Chipolopolo. That’s just rubbish yes rubbish just support the efforts Janza is doing and stop calling for call ups when ever you hear Zambian scored. I ve not head of Kola in months but when you hear he scored all of a sudden you are on the technical bench for his call up. Esis

    • Mumbi in English it’s called freedom of expression I don’t know in Spanish or check in la François. By the way what’s your contribution to the discussion apart from stalking me? Kikiki Just discuss the beautiful game and stop being personal like a snob.

  3. Every performing players deserve a call-up to the national team. However the decision lies entirely with the coach. The coach should call such players as Kola and assess them. We need to go to EG with a strong squad otherwise it will be another early elimination.
If I were Janza, I would call players like Kondwani Mtonga and Rogers Kola as assess them. Their calling to the national team should however not be seen as automatic place in the team, but should be assessed first. Just like Janza extended an olive leaf to Singuluma, he should also do likewise to those players who can add value to the national team. There is nothing wrong with that. If you ask me, I would prefer a player like Kola to Chamanga. My opinion.
On another note, Zamfoot this new look website looks fine and I like it. One good thing is that it’s fast and quick to post comments.

  4. Talking about the new site, my observation:

    1. On the desk top computer the comment ‘bubbles’ occupy about 80% of the space but on a mobile its about 50% so when you reply under an initial comment, text bubble becomes thinner hence just having a strip of text of about 3 words per line as you comment under a comment. I dont know how it will look like if another third reply is posted under the initial comment. This is making the text take lots of screen space and stroll alot to read read all the comments.

    2. Article Titles are a bit too large especially on the mobile.

    3. The button for POST COMMENT and SEARCH are in orange color and so are their text, in a dim lit place you can barely read, its ok for the regular visitors who may know what the buttons are for but for a visitor might start to wonder their use. Change text to a bit darker colour.

    4. When typing the text in the comment bubble, text is orange its only black after posting, this orange text over the white background might be an eye strain to some.

    5. Posting comments is very fast. Thats good.

    6. Maybe in future create to twitter link to the site for more sharing of your articles.

    7. By and large, its a beautiful site.

  5. @ Judge Joe Bidden – Zambia qualified to the AFCON and we are looking for players to represent us that is why always on the look out to look for any performing player both local and abroad, so if feel bad by doing that then you can hang but we need Rodger Kola assessment.Anyway, well done Rodger and keep it up the place is there for you.

    • My point basically is, remember some people were against the use of the youngsters against Cape Verde but Janza stood his ground and we won. We had alot of team composition proposals from fan very few were including Rogers Kola on the dream team. Only on this thread I ve seen alot of people calling for him? What if Zamfoot didn’t report his brace will we be talking about him? I am his fan I know he’s quick at the goal post let’s call all our players who deserve to go to AFCON2015 but not asking for them one by one one might think – why call me now when so and so was called for national duties months back. That’s my point.

  6. When Chamanga scores in China you don’t call for his inclusion, the same goes with Katongo Chris. When did Kola scores for Zambia?
We already have a lot of strikers in Kangwa, Sate Sate, Jacob, Mayuka, so as at now we don,t need Kola. We only need to find defenders where we seem to have problems whenever Sunzu is missing.

    • Thanks buddy, we just need to enjoy this site its ours. Actually, Zamfoot blundered by calling it “The Fans’ Perspective” ha ha, all credit goes to Zamfoot its a good move they have done.

  7. @ MUMBI- Correct, we have a lot of defenders at local level than abroad but that doesn’t stop us from selecting the most capable ones.We have one of the Yobe brothers at ZANACO, Billy Mutale, and many guys in the league who can perform better than Munthali and Malama otherwise, will be embarrassed by those kasais.

    • I agree with both of you guys, I feel strikers are not very enough but enough the major issue I have observed is our defence, remember we had a big problem with the Mozambican striker (forgot his name) who was coming from the left flank the chap was penetrating our defence at will, same applied to the game with Cape Verde somehow I even felt luck was also to our side – in both games Sunzu wasnt available and in both games I was always on the edge of the seat when ever opponent strikers head for our goal post, thats not a way to watch your own team. Those guys at AFCON they will mean business lets fortify our defence if we have to come out of the group stage alive.

  8. We don’t need strikers, we need defenders. I wonder why janza keeps calling munthali. That’s why have never had confidence in one Janza..

  9. Felas israel ligat(or watever its called) is not really a competitive one, it almost like the psl or indian hero league. So we shud nt ball out for a(automatic) place for a player who scores 0ne or two goals against some (below) average team in their respective average leagues.for if kola scores in israel nd bornwell scores at amazula or chivuta scores a brace in vietnam, ni chimochine.infact kola has had chances with the national team, alas he has not shown us why we shud be crying for his boots.fine janza can assess him but its no guaranty for the trip to Ebibiyen(E.G) . Let kola keep it consistently red hot nd help his team in europe/uefa or europ , am sure a top team will be up for his signature.

  10. In fact this same chap failed to tick at F.C Gent(Belgium). That just shows the calibre of the Israel ligat. However since is even assessing blind strikers like festus mbewe, then kola jst like any performing player he needs to be assessd for we need real poachers to hunt down the simba/lions, eagles, elephants nd any creature standing in the way of the bullet in the equatorial forest.

  11. That is what we want,Kola has not seen game time with Chipolopolo, I think Janza should give him chance. if ever Kola Mayuka Sata sata Mbesuma could in scoring form Zambia national soccer team wont be the same

  12. @Billy Boyo – Where you there or do you know why he failed to tick. Some of you guy, you don’t add any value to this site.May be they had a lot of strikers but for the sake following blindly you are just yapping anyhow. We are going to AFCON,let us analyze football and how we can manage beat our opponents as a country.

  13. @ nazo what has my being there/presense gat to do with a playa failing to hold down a place at their club. If Mayuka made it from the same route,Israel nd kola fails why shud it be Mr Boyo’s fish to fry. Let’s spur on our boys to play in better teams than settling for mediocrity

  14. Kola has had injury problems in the past.. Hence non performance at teams like Gent..He seems to be in fine form now and theres no harm calling him for trials. The same way we have 20 plus local players (of which only a handful will be picked), theres no harm trying out as many players…trials are not automatic inclusion. But yes like most have said our biggest headache is defense all the way up to midfield.. We were very lucky not to concede against Mozambique and Carpe Verde, we shouldn’t ride on this luck at a tournament with teams that mean business.
