Kalengo named player of the year as Zesco award deserving players

Zesco United striker Winstone Kalengo was on Friday night honoured with the player of the year award at club’s end of year party and award gala held at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Kalengo who earlier in the season had a botched loan deal in Mozambique came back to inspire the club to a double with his goals and assists.

Kalengo scored a beautifully worked goal in the Barclays Cup final against Nkana which brought out his brilliance in running off the ball and finishing.

Also awarded at the event was league top scorer Jackson Mwanza who bagged two awards walking away with the golden boot and players player award.

There were also awards for Chishimba Changala and Justin Zulu who walked away with the most disciplined player and most consistent player awards respectively while Clatous Chama was given the most improved player award.

  1. Next we will hear is, kalengo is loaned, could it be that Zambian clubs run out of finances as African champions league progress, such that they begin to loan out their best players? to say the list, Nkana was pathetic. Evance Kangwa, Mbewe loaned AMD Bruce Musakanya returned back. its just that no team went for the goal keeper, graphld have been loaned. Hope Zesco united will not go that way
