Zambia 1 – 2 Nigeria: I am sorry – Kalaba

Zambia national team skipper Rainford Kalaba has apologised to the nation for the Chipolopolo’s loss to Nigeria in the 2018 Russia World Cup qualifier.

Kalaba said he was disappointed to lose at home adding that he could have scored more than a goal in the game.

“I apologise to nation because I missed so many chances. I should have scored two or three goals, I just want to say I am sorry to my fans and I am very disappointed to lose at home because it was very important for us to start well, unfortunately things have gone the other side,” Kalaba said.

He however remained optimistic that Zambia cold pick results in other games.

Zambia were trailing 2 – 0 at half time but came back from the break with guns blazing and created several chances which were not taken.

Collins Mbesuma managed to pull one back for Chipolopolo in the 71st minute.

  1. Please somebody psyche Kalaba on the importance to only shoot if he is very clear he will score as at the end of the day victory belongs to the whole team and the nation…..There where scenarios in the Nigeria game whereby the easiest thing Kalaba would have done was to pass to Mbesuma to convert but lo and behold he decided to shoot wide…..

  2. our game is going as planned.

Get a win against Zambia away in the first match as this will force them to tighten up in subsequent games at home, hence, helping us beat both Cameroun and Algerian at Ndola.

Win all our home games, and get another win or draw in Yaounde or Blida since the first match against Cameron and Algeria ended in a draw, then we are as good as qualified.

That’s the plan and it is working out. Up Eagles

  3. Naija fought hard in Ndola and got rewarded with a victory.
Zambia believe no one can beat them at home, but we did it in style.it will go down well in memory for a long time that Naija end Zambia unbeaten run at home in Ndola. It was indeed a romantic victory and a good start to our quest to Rusia.

  4. You people are blind,Nathan Sinkala was the main source of weakness in the Zambian team.He loses the ball careless, not a fighter and inaccurate passes.Hence, giving much room to obi Mikel to expose our difference. Then Kalaba is too selfish and immature to be a captain. He can’t inspire the team. Therefore, the armband should go to Mweene. We should also look for natural left footer with attacking mind like the way Fwayo Tembo his on the other side.We can try lottie Phiri or Felix Katongo. We also need a natural attacking midfielder to feed Mbesuma and Kalengo up front. In this case,Cletus Chama should be talked and encouraged, the other one in mind is Jacob Ngulube.
In my opinion, let us drop Kalaba & Nathan and bring in Cletus Chama,Felix Katongo Misheck Chaila,Isaac Chansa (box to box) and Lottie Phiri on the left. we also need Chris Katongo at some point or depending situation on the ground especially on away games.

    • I share your points. Although I feel we still need nathan. Kalaba should surrender the arm band.In my opinion, he is very selfish and fails to inspire his teamates. Perhaps Mweene should lead. I like how he always motivates and comes down his back line. I feel Kalengo is also a late down lately. Let the coach try Evans Kangwa.

      • @ Nazo and @Quicksilver, agreed especially on Cletus Chama and Evans Kangwa. Their time has come but the locals like the likes of Ngulube and chama need to build their confidence through freindlies. As for Lottie Phiri, Felix Katongo and Isaac, I think they are past their sale by date. Chansa is about 33 and so is Kalengo – time to move on.

  5. Fwayo this fwayo that. Today Fwayo is your best player. You morons for how many years did I call for his inclusion and you insulted me.

    • @john Fwayo is unquestionably one the most influential midfielders at the moment but let us be honest He lacks discipline and a sober character, He need proper psychological sessions and serious ones. A Life Coach to be precise.

      • @John I for one never doubted Fwayo’s gifted talents, his always been a marvel when given a chance. Its his disciplinary issues that put him off. All in all his good foam will be greatly appreciated by our technical bench and the fans.

  6. Hahahahaha bobos abeg make una no ki me wit laff joor.
Stop crying over spilled milk my Zambian pady pady.
I saw a lot of your comment before the match, how you folks were boasting of your Kalaba and his gang of failures. So sorry Zambians, Naija were the better side and deserve to win as only the best should represent mother Africa in the world stage. You guys should put your act together and prepare to face more tougher task in Limbe Cameroon come Nov 12. A lose will be disastrous for the Chipos and a win or a draw for Zambia will be in Naija Favour, if we beat Algeria. This is what the Lord has done for Naija.

  7. Nigerian to come and play balombelefye ubwafwilisho ( donation ) what happened to a Nigerian god was he block? Wada is okey the changes he made revealed that he was reading the game. Kalaba even if you say sorry you are no going to win the march alone, so ba wada Kangwa is swift , also c , Chama even mbola . Another thing tell the boys playing well is scoring

  8. Am happy he has realised he made mistakes….the best turning point in anyone’s life is to accept our own mistakes.kalaba didn’t play alone n all his attempts was because he wanted us to win….I love that spirit.we can bring in which ever players u are suggesting n may even end up not shooting on goal……

  9. Congrats to Naija for pulling a win in Ndola. I agree that Kalaba lurks the leadership skills.

@Nazo We saw how A.Chama was exposed by the Nigerian stars upfront. Both goals came out of his inexperience. You can’t bench Kalaba & N.Sinkala and bring in C.Chama, M.Chaila. These are all novices. We saw that the game was played at a high level and these guys luck exposure. Mahrez, Sofiane Feghouli and the other Algerian midfielders can crucify those boys in the middle. Kalaba Sinkala have all played in Europe before and have years of experience in Champions League and World Club Cup with TP.

Adrian Chama is a good example of what lack of exposure can do to you.

  10. FAZ needs to camp the team, look for window when they can do so. We need one friendly game. Angola, Namibia, Tanzania.

Kalaba needs to show more leadership. On the pitch the team is yours to command, half time and it is Wadawadas.

The bottom line is we were not sharp enough.

  11. No need to apologize, you guys worked hard, tough lose, but we need to move forward, still a lot of football to be played. Any fool criticizing Kalaba for his apologies and show of leadership by shouldering the blame, is plainly a fool, ask yourself this, what have you done for mother Zambia yourself, than just running your mouths on hear? Kalaba and other players are true heroes in that they are sweating for mother Zambia, so all you loud mouths punks need to shut it right now.

    • Tc Soccerman, lets not act you don’t also criticize players on this forum. Criticism when done positively is a good thing, rather than calling people fools; just make your point and move on. We won’t always agree with eachother on here so why muzzle your friends by using such language naiwe.

The what have you done for mother Zambia argument can be used for anything that you have said about Kalu and FAZ.
