The Copper Queens are set to receive $150,000 (approximately K2.7 million) from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for participating in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The participation fee has been increased from the $125,000 awarded to each team at the previous edition, following an announcement by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe during Wednesday’s official pre-tournament press conference.
Dr Motsepe also confirmed that the champions of the 2026 WAFCON will earn a record $2 million in prize money, 100 percent increment, underlining CAF’s continued investment in the growth of women’s football across Africa.
The Total Prize Money has been increased from by 67% from USD 3, 475 Million to USD 5.8 Million
The Prize Money of the Runner-up has been increased by 50% to USD 750 000 and the Prize Money of the 3rd Position has been increased by 43%.
