The ZANACO Ladies FC hierarchy are interested in bringing Zambia U17 Women’s National team head coach Carol Kanyemba to Sunset Stadium, the ZamFoot Crew have learned.
The ZANACO Ladies FC top job was left vacant after the departure of Florence Mwila who ended a five year tenure at the helm of Lusaka based side.
According to ZamFoot Crew sources at Sunset Stadium despite advertising the job the decision makers at the club are said to be admirers of the Copper Princesses’ boss.
“Yes, the management are big admirers of Coach Carol ( Kanyemba) and they would love to get her to Sunset Stadium. She has done very well at the U17 national team. They also love her brand of football,” the source said.
“But you know it’s complicated since she is attached and the new season is starting soon,” the source added.
Kanyemba is currently attached as assistant coach to Charles Haalubono at Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club.
The former Copper Queens player has led the Copper Princesses to three consecutive FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifications.
Kanyemba and the Copper Princesses made history last year as they thrashed New Zealand 4-0 to secure their place in the last 16 of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025, the first time for Zambia to reach the knock out stage.
