Full Time: Sudan 0 – 1 Zambia (Amity Shamenda 88′)
The Zambia national soccer team finally picked a win in their fourth friendly match on the current tour of West Africa and Sudan when they beat Sudan 1 – 0 in Khartoum.
Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojević made four changes to the team that lost 3 – 2 to the hosts on Friday naming Gregory Sanjase ahead of Mwenya Chibwe in goal, Benedict Chiepeshi coming in for Makabaniso Magenge, Salulani Phiri for Golden Mafwenta and Roger Kola for Moses Phiri.
Sudan dominated most of the game and controlled the game but their poor finishing in front of goal cost them.
Zambia struggled to create clear chances but looked good when it came to playing in the midfield.
Micho tweaked his approach in the second half when he brought in Collins Sikombe in place of Kola. With Brian Mwila taking up the central attacking role and Sikombe playing a free role behind him, Zambia looked far much better in the second half and they created more chances.
However, Zambia only got their goal late in the game when substitute Amity Shamenda miscued a cross from the right. Fortunately the looping ball dropped in at the far post leaving Mohammed Mustafa in the Sudan goal with no chance.
Sanjase was brilliant on his debut as he made crucial saves and interventions to keep out the hosts and ensure that Micho’s team collects one win from the four games played on this tour of international friendly matches.

Well done!!!
The defence this time accounted for itself well. @Tony Mash your comments, mate?
The goal minder was execellent. At least there is hope now in that dept. Midfield and defense were brilliant. Needs to work frontline.
For me, the defense is still our weakest link…the Sudanese were slicing through at will, our wingbacks were letting in cross after cross. Against clinical opposition, that’s a recipe for screaming score line…our defenders need to learn how to close spaces. The whole team needs to press together to thwart opposition build ups.
Faz scoured the entire world for Zambian players at great cost! Only for Tanzana Mayembe to be confined to the bench. I have lost confidence in Micho. I just cant imagine why after 4 friendly games the boy was not allowed reasonable time on the pitch!! Nonsense.
Yes, the boy should have been given a run so that if he failed to impress and was left out in fulture, he would would have no one to blame…
Weaknesses of a player don’t necessarily have to be spotted on the field of play but also in training camps as there re other factors to be taken into account
The team is still far from convincing us. Lets not judge them against week opponents. Their ball control and passing is very poor. Non of these players can match the tinisians. The defence is very week. Micho is not technially good thats why the team is playing without proper formation. He needs to be consistance with his tactics. The coach he is not serious. He invited that small boy and failed to give him game time. Mayembe should have played in that practise match.
Nothing to write home about. This coach is clueless and needs to go, period!
I don’t agree with you saying Sudan dominated…which one were you watching
Ba Zamfoot shani Ka player rating
Solomon Sakala should be included in the team. He has greatly improved interms of alertness and spead. Micho has to now to
look for a right back.
