Twenty Four year ago today, Zambia walk out to the news of plane crash that killed the entire national soccer team, technical bench Zambia Airforce Crew, FAZ administrators and journalist.
The team was headed for a World Cup Qualifier match in Senegal but the Buffalo plane carrying the team plunged into the dark waters of the Atlantic Ocean late on 27th April 1993.
As news filtered through during the day, there was utter disbelief that we had lost our finest football talents.
When images from Libreville of the wreckage and remains where shown on the Television Main news in the evening, it was heavy burden for the nation to carry.
Watch clips of the Dennis Liwewe eulogy
This was epitomized by the a moving eulogy given by Dennis Liwewe (MHSRIP) live on national television which spoke of the grief everyone in the country had.

Sad Memories…RIP !
My their souls rest in peace, my heart bleeds wen I imagine wat happened
What a bunch of talented players. They could take down any team in Africa.
Will for ever be remembered. Coaching stuff as well was two of the best players Zambia had ever seen in the 70’s & 80’s.
Sorry-Coaching staff
Watched their last game on home soil.
Zamfoot why are u not reporting on the unrest in the under 20….Kamanga is now disappointing me….He came on a platform of having the relevant professional skills to manage FAZ effectively. … …but so far no change in how the administration of football is done other than a bit more transparency…..why haven’t the lads been paid winning bonuses up to now?
@SC I agree with you 100% .if it was kalu this kamanga would have given alot of solutions and together with some id*ts on this blog .20,000 per player is what they are failing to honor. Ba Kamanga at am the energy gulu ….
sad memories rest in peace
Rest in peace
May their souls Rest In Peace
