Foreign stars arrive in Khartoum

Zambia’s foreign stars have already arrived in the Sudanese capital city of Khartoum ahead of Russia 2018 World Cup 1st leg qualifier against Sudan, Zambianfootball.co.zm can exclusively reveal.

And the rest of the Chipolopolo boys which left Kenneth Kaunda international airport at around midnight are expected to arrive in Khartoum at about 12:00 hours.

On board from Lusaka, are TP Mazembe trio Rainford Kalaba, Nathan Sinkala and Kabaso Chongo. The team is connecting via ethiopia.

Once in Khartoum, the two batches will link up and then take a bus drive to venue town 400 km away from the capital.

Israel based Evans Kangwa was the first to arrive in Sudan on Monday and was joined by Armenian based Lubambo Musonda who arrived immediately after midnight.

Stopilla Sunzu, Aaron Katebe and South African based duo Collins Mbesuma and goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene are the other foreign stars already in Khartoum.

Zambia will host Sudan on Saturday in Ndola in the return leg.

The winner over two legs qualify to the group stage.

  1. Now this is what we have lacked all these times.
Arrive early, acclimatise, and Play the Game.
Ba Sudan are in for a good time this time around.
A big up to the Government, FAZ, and all who made this early trip possible.

When you arrive early it will show.

Go Chipolopolo and Go and Conquer.

      • The usual logistics problem. This is disgusting. How can you arrive just about 24 hrs before. Game? POOR PLANNING. Same thing happened I Ghana & elsewhere not too long ago.

  2. Abram i agree with .our players will not have enough time to rest considering a 400km by road they needed atleast a full day of resting cos travelling by road is stressful.GO GO BOYS

  3. I think Chicken’s problem is how to introduce the young lads into the system. It is unwise to push more than 3 inexperienced players into a big game. Such players feel secured when playing with the big lads. It is also high time Zambia realize that a team is recognized with how it deals with smaller teams and also how it rubs shoulders with the bigger guns.
The world cup is not a joke. This is only a first stage and I expect Zambia to brush this one off with ease and seriousness because the next stage is a red stage.
Unfortunately we are missing the services of Atsu of Bournemouth but his absence should not give us headache against Comoros on Friday

  4. The players that worry me most are Chepeshi and Mkandawire. Chicken is going to start these two young boys and they will be torn to pieces in Sudan. That is the main reason why I have no confidence in this coach and the team. Otherwise I am hoping for the best for the Chipolopolo Boys. A draw in Sudan will be a great result for Zambia. Otherwise katwishi fye mwe.

  5. @Billy that I know my guy, but I am worried about many Zambians who may not afford DSTV or to go somewhere just to watch the game on DSTV.

  6. Those prayers arealdy in Sunday shound have started to the game location of 400kms than waiting 4 they friends, this way part of the team wound have enough rest.

  7. Sudan has moved th game to a stadium whr th pitch is Very bad. Buh ts cool with us, our players do play on bad pitches in DR Congo n in th local league at stadiums like nakambala n woodlands stadium. Th 400 KM journey shuldnt b an excuse wen thy fail to beat th sudanese. #all th best chipolopolo.

  8. The lads needed at least 3 days to adjust to the low oxygen levels. Lack of acclimatization always shows when we play in sudan. Especially in the second half when our boys just wither away. We need to score early then hold on.

  9. Great observation @ balashax. And also when the pictch is bad like the potato forest Ghana played Rwanda in the short passes should be avoided. low long passes and quick fewer touches towards the Sudan goal

  10. Let us now relagate these desert boys to were they t belong ,realisticallySudan is not in the same class as us we are among those BIG DOGS of African football as they say statistics do not lie,go show them boys .

  11. our talking cannot help anymore. all we can do is to wish our Chipolopolo boyz all the best as they prepare to gun down the Nile Crocodiles of Sudan

  12. How and when is the Sudanesse team travelling to the game? Honestly our president is in CAF and such nonsense is allowed? This like Ghana all over again, we are being taken for a ride.

    • You are not realistic. Our preparation is the problem & not the Sudanese or Ghanaians. Blame yourself for people like you who don’t face reality. This is about the fourth time we are getting to games at the last hour. Oh Zambia!!!!

  13. Good luck boys, you are on your own, you have a sell out for a president at FAZ. How can you play in such a horrendous stadium when Kalu is in Caf, oh wait he is in Caf for his his personal gain, never mind, I forgot. This chicken poo needs to go, sick and tired of his incompetency.

  14. This coach is a f00l only after succumbing to my pressure did he decide to call kabaso chongo. The team is also not balanced he lacks creativity. He should have called fwayo tembo to add depth. He’s very useless this coach. Mbola is also more experienced than those useless full backs who can disgrace us.

  15. @John, which coach are you going to like? Renard was pathetic,Janza was useless and chicken is a fool. It’s like you don’t know what you are looking for.

  16. We all know about the ill treatment in such countries as sudan, they arrive early ” they know better than going into the war tone country this early” they arrive 48 hours before the game ” FAZ and logistical issues” . What will we not complain about?

  17. Surely FAZ should have complained to CAF about the poor state of that potato field. That patch of land is unplayable. Useless Sudanese.
