FAZ to protest to FIFA over poor officiating in Cameroon game

The Football Association of Zambia FAZ have said they will protest to FIFA over the poor officiating by Senegalese referee Diwdhiou Malan during the 1 – 1 draw with Cameroon.

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga stated that there were many questionable decisions given against Zambia in the gane and he singled out the soft penalty given to Cameroon.

“We are going to complain about today’s officiating because I have never seen a referee give a penalty on second thought,” Kamanga told ZNBC just after the match.

“It should have been an instantaneous decision. He reacted to the crowd, the line man didn’t even raise his flag so it was a suspicious penalty,” Kamanga added.

The FAZ boss was part of the delegation at the Omnisport stadium in Limbs.

Zambia went ahead in the 34th minute before conceding a penalty 20 seconds before half time which was converted for the Cameroon equalizer.

  1. Forget kamanga! Zambia has been given soft penalties before. Let’s just move on. Let’s build proper structures. Our team lucks a future. Let’s concentrate on the under twenty, people like Mayuka and Kola who were supposed to be top strikers by now have disappointed.

    • WILL, U MUST BE A FORTUNE TELLER –U ARE RIGHT TO TELL ZFA TO MOVE ON COS IN GHANA, ZAMBIA IS NAMED THE ( THE DOUBTFUL THOMASES )
IN FOOTBALL- MEANING ZAMBIA ALWAYS DOUBTS THEIR FOOTBALL WHEN THEY LOOSE..ANYWAY, GHANA LOST TO EGYPT TWO 2 GOALS TO NIHIL 0;.

  2. This is stupid. That was a penalty. If that had been a Cameroonian defender who had handled the ball in the box, everyone would have been singing a different tune. Do we want to be the team that always complains to FIFA? Get over it and why not focus on trying to win the next games.

  3. The slow motion of the handball in question was not shown otherwise there could be no complaint. If it was really a handball or any offensive making could have been shown clearly to prove the the accuracy of the referee. The it was shown and Kalaba was offensively marked but no free kick for these faz has the right to protest.

  4. I don’t knw y sum zambians are so stupid I even doubt if u are true zambians if u bn watching football 4 a while were hv u Seen in normal football a penalt is gven n no slow motion is shown betta u jst keep quite wth u foolish comments ok

  5. guys even the commentator was surprised coz he said their is no slow motion so that we can see what happened there, tayali penalty

  6. That was Very poor officiating from the refere.fifa need to burn that Senegalese referee. What controversial pernalty that is day light robbery.faz must act with agency

  7. We always get dodgy decisions from West African Referees starting from the Diramba days. We all know they are a corrupt lot so the best thing to do is pump in goals and win clean -corrupt as they might be, they cant give five penalties. Look at the Guinea Bissau game – disaster, but Zesco learnt how to manage them otherwise they would have suffered the same fate against that Malian team but goals saved them.

  8. Anyone who doesn’t believe that was a penalty ninshi katwishi bola mutamba nga ya shani. The defender slid and to say the ball rolled over his trailing arm is a lie, the ball clearly changed direction when his arm made contact with the ball. Thus denying a scoring opportunity when the Cameroonian player had cut the ball back. Had the striker been Zambian and the Defender from Cameroon, would you have been okay if the ref had played on? I doubt that anyone here would have. Take your loss with dignity and focus on the next 4 games. There are 12 points to be won out there.

    • @positive thinking, you seem to have had some very clear replay which some of us are not privy to. what I saw was a defender apona but very far from making contact with the defender and then I am told the ball rolled over his arm – decision taken after some hesitation from the referee – yashani ? I am however not for the idea of complaining to CAF as I believe the best response is simply outscore these chaps ( which we are capable of )

      • @Pungwa. I watched the game albeit on my phone, but if you look at the highlights. There was a replay from behind the goal during the game that showed the player go in for the tackle just as the forward cut back. Then the trailing arm of the defender knocks the ball to the other defender. If you actually watch with neutral eyes instead of your mind already made that it wasn’t a penalty maybe you will see it too.

You guys need to be serious nama protest and calling people bad referees. The ref made the call. When the ball is handled in the box, it does not have to be deliberate for it to be a penalty. Also, it doesn’t matter if it took the ref a little while to make the decision, heck he could have been talking to the linesman.

Bottom line is the game is done; move on.

    • Instead of wasting time on an issue that won’t be reversed, expend your energy on finding us a decent looking jersey and not that clown costume you had the team wearing

  9. African referees are a disgrace to the game of football. And you expect African football to move forward like that? Just like the “penalty”that was given to South Africa in the game against Senegal. That was not a penalty either. Very useless referees.

  10. If the ball hits the hand which is behind,or close to the body,it’s ball to hand. But if it hits the hand which is in front of the body,or side ways away from the body it’s a hand to ball,in short(hand ball). So,ask yourselves if it hit the hand which was in front or behind. Then find the answer.

  11. Here we go again cry babies. Always b!tching about something, when it is obvious we did not attack when we were leading instead piled up pressure on the shaky defense. That penalty was as a result of continuously attack by Cameroon. If we kept Cameroon in check and kept on attacking them instead of defend, then that pk would not have been a result. Quit b!tching and play ball, even with board room points, we ain’t going nowhere until the approach changes and that it is, attack and attack and attach. Offense is the best defense, but these clueless coaches never get it.

  12. African referees are a disgrace for real even our very own janny sikazwe was found wanting in afcon qualifying match between Nigeria and Egypt faz must go ahead maybe a change on how matches are managed by the referees in Africa can be there.

  13. We all know the decision won’t be reversed but FIFA need to accord matches of this magnitude with good refs who can judge for themselves with their linesman rather than making decisions based on the emotions of fans watching the match. The other lousy call was the penalty awarded to South Africa against Senegal. This need to stop as it’s killing the game. You must see the way Sikazwe handles matches, the man is always in complete control of his games and that’s the way it should be.

  14. Guys…mhmmmm.I am not Zambian but truth be told, there was no penulty. The reason is that the game was allowed to progress and one wonders why a reverse when he had not stopped the game immediately in order to seek help from the A. referee. Kalaba was not protected at all or does it mean he has not reached the level to earn him that……Special players are worth the refs protection anyway. Kalaba deserves the protection. He is special in the context of Zambia. That aside, May someone tell me why the middleman in the Senegal/S.A game awarded S.A a penalty ? I just have a feeling that some countries are buying their way to the world cup. FIFA must wakeup. Kamanga has a point. Letting them know is also important though some are part of the plan to steal the blessing from the countries with less buying power. The practise is tantamount to corruption.

  15. zambians are so courageous about
their team even as d team is lacking
behind cameroun. The advice i hav
for u guys is to start preparing for
draw with d desert foxes by
watching the tape of the foxes and d super eagles.. If two
    cauntries can qualify from each
group i would love zambia and
Nigeria to qualify but since their is
no possibility ur team should learn
to play like Nigeria. I watched the match between zambia and
    cameroon but zambia were lucky..
    Cameroun press Zambia but they
    dont hav fast attackers unlike
Algeria that has slimani, Mahrez and
Bantaleb.. Be very careful or else the desert foxes will crush ur
team.. Their is still time to prepare..
Mbesuma is getting old i dont
know how in form he will b next
    year..

  16. Zambia lacked true central midfielders against Cameroon. There was a huge gap between defense and attack. Every time Mweene passed the ball to the defenders, they resorted to long balls against a tall Cameroon side. A true central midfielder would have been the conduit between defense and attack. This team will be exposed by the Algerians, who play a European style of football, unless the coach identifies some box to box midfielders.
