Zambia’s U17 Women’s National Team suffered a 2-1 loss to Paraguay at the ongoing FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, handing the South Americans their first-ever win at the tournament.
The Copper Princesses started brightly, with Victoria Mbali opening the scoring early. However, Zambia’s lead lasted just nine minutes, as Mary Nyangu accidentally put the ball into her own net to level the score for Paraguay.
Paraguay then went ahead in the 33rd minute, again through a Zambian own goal—this time from Nana Malanda.
Zambia had a golden opportunity to draw level, but captain Mercy Chipasula was unable to convert from the penalty spot, sealing the Copper Princesses’ defeat.
Zambia will now turn their focus to the remaining Group F fixtures against Japan and New Zealand.
FULL TIME: Zambia 1-2 Paraguay

Tough lack. The girls played their heart out.
The pwn goals were better than watching the boys or men’s teams play.
