The Zambian football family has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of former Kabwe Warriors, Forest Rangers, and Power Dynamos midfielder Cephas Mulombwa, who died in a road traffic accident on April 10, 2026.
The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) confirmed the devastating news in a statement, describing Mulombwa as a gifted player whose impact on the domestic game will never be forgotten.
Mulombwa, widely admired for his passion and quality on the ball, enjoyed memorable spells at Kabwe Warriors, Forest Rangers, and Power Dynamos, leaving a lasting impression at each club.
His finest moment came in the 2023 Absa Cup, where he played a pivotal role in guiding Forest Rangers to their historic maiden triumph.
Mulombwa delivered a standout performance throughout the tournament, scooping a remarkable treble of individual accolades — Man of the Match, Top Scorer, and Player of the Tournament — cementing his place in Zambian football folklore.
“Mulombwa was a very talented player who graced the Zambian game with passion,” read part of the ZPL statement. “His contribution to the clubs he represented and to the league will be fondly remembered. His untimely passing is a great loss to the football family.”
Tributes have continued to pour in from across the football fraternity, with former teammates, clubs, and supporters remembering him not only for his footballing brilliance but also for his character.
The ZPL has since extended its heartfelt condolences to the Mulombwa family, friends, and all those affected by the tragic loss.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
