Chisamba helps Ural escape relegation

Chipolopolo midfielder Chisamba Lungu yesterday helped his club Ural FC of the Russian Premier League to a vital away win over Terek Grozny which saw them escape relegation on the last day of the season.

Needing a win to be assured of survival, Ural stepped out to the waste possible start conceding an own goal in the 38th minute.

They however came back immediately in the 40th minute and added another on the stroke of half time before sealing their win in the 88th minute.

Chisamba played 70 minutes in the game.

Ural will now play in the relegation play-off against Tom’ Tomsk with the first game being played away on Wednesday and the return match on Saturday.

  1. Zambia has a lot of talent we simply have a useless coach and poor administrators. Zambia has enough talent to go to the world cup.

  2. Chisamba is like Nani – full of potential but lacks consistency and often has no end product to his game. At one time he looked like he’d be the one to fill in the boots of the late Timothy Mwitwa who was a goal- scoring midfielder but it hasn’t happened.

    • Thanks KK11. I was reading the article then I saw the relegation playoff statement at the bottom so I was wondering if they are safe or not. So apparently not.

BA Zamfoot, fix your headline here. Ural closer to safety or something, not saved from relegation yet.

  3. Truth is I am also a bit disappointed with Chisamba’s finishing. In most games I have seen he is the potential match winner, but just can’t get it right in front of the goal. His shots are either too tame or simply misdirected. The coaches should have worked on improving the power of his shot or developed his ability to split and destroy defences and give pin point passes. I have actually never seen him score for Zambia apart from the penalty against Ivory Coast.
Otherwise he is a god player. Please keep up young man.

    • It’s almost a sad affair you point out man. He is probably the best dribbler in Africa at the moment, but he gets very little credit there – it will be a different story if he starts creating more game changing moments. If he can try to control the temple of the game he would a different animal.
