The Zambia National Team is currently in South Africa for a week long camp preparing for the penultimate AFCON qualifier against Ivory Coast set for Ndola on June 17th.
The decision has caused a lot of discussions on social media with a lot of people questioning the logic behind the camp.
The ZamFoot Crew however understands that the The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) had a valid reason for picking South Africa.
Coach Avram Grant also explained that South Africa offered the team a quiet environment away from the noise and help players to concentrate on the game.
On the other hand , the Association picked South Africa because it was logically easy for players to converge and start preparations in good time.
The major reason however was that the FA were looking to organise a friendly match with one top team especially from West Africa.
The FA had engaged Ghana and later Togo but both could not come to fruition despite efforts from the Zambian side to make it work.
The Copper Bullets then engaged Morocco who however decided to face another side.
The Possibility of a friendly game was the major recipe for the South Africa camp.
Avram Grant and his team are currently in Johannesburg fine tuning the team ahead of the June 17th clash against the Elephants.
Ivory Coast are unbeaten on 10 points while Zambia are second on 9 points and need just a point to secure promotion to their first continental football showpiece since 2015.
Comoros and Lesotho are on 3 and a point respectively.
