The Zambia national soccer team regrouped in Ndola ahead of the game against Nigeria and yesterday trained under the tutelage of Wedson Nyirenda for the first time since the coach was appointed.
The 16 local players called to camp were all available for yesterday’s training.
The Zesco United players were however missing from the squad as they have been allowed to recover after the CAF Champions League semi final match against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The foreign based players will join the squad next week.
Zambia play Nigeria on the 9th of October, 2016 at the Levy Mwanasa stadium in Ndola.

Could you please reconsider to include experienced players like C. Katongo in this important game. One advantage this guy has is positioning himself when his winger (Kalaba and others) move with the ball. Without him most of cross balls go untouched.
The coach calls players whom he think can fit into his game plane. Calling Joseph Musonda and C katongo…. Is the same as Brazil calling Ronaldinho and Lucio. The days of playing names are long gone. Moreover, the coach can’t Call all the players to the national Team. Let’s just support the team he has called and hopefully victory will be delivered on 9th October.
You are wrong Smooth.This is not a COSAFA tournament.We need a good balance between these inexperienced kids and the experienced players.A case in point in the just ended AFCON qualifiers,all the goals were scored by the so called finished legs.In Kenya,it was Kalengo and Mbesuma,in Guenea it was Mbesuma and Christopher Katongo and against Kenya at home it was Kalaba.In fact the game against Kenya was saved because of the stand out performance of the likes of Felix Katongo who contributed to the assist.Surely,having Charles Zulu,Shonga,Masimbuko from Lumwana Radiants is a joke for a world cup qualifier!
