Charly Musonda refuses to rule out Arsenal move

Chelsea midfielder Charly Musonda has confirmed he’s aware of Arsenal’s interest and has refused to rule out a move to the Emirates.

Musonda was linked with a move to the Gunners before opting to join Chelsea instead from Belgian club Anderlecht.

But having seen a route into the Blues first-team blocked, Arsenal are reported to be in talks, and the play-maker won’t rule out a transfer.

‘I’m also well aware of the news, nothing has been done yet,’ he said.

‘I will reflect personally with my family and agent and come to a conclusion that hopefully benefits the continuity of my progression.

‘I’m looking forward to playing football next year.’

Musonda has been linked with loan switches to Monaco and Marseille recently, but Arsenal hope to convince him to stay in England.

    • We’ve really lost out on these boy. With amapulanga swamping and engulfing the national team, these are the kind of players we need in the Chipolopolo squad.

      • …yes these are the players, Billy ask yourself do these boys even take themselves to be Zambians? Nope! So why should we give ’em accolades and praises when they have NEVER played for Zambia or even hear a name Zambia being mentioned in their mouths? Lets stick to the mediocre players we have and maybe we might find good leg transplants for them, definitely they need good leg transplants.

        • “Just give the devil his due”. Not to say these boys are devils, and you can’t blame them for the decisions they have made, but the stupid Zambian constitution which does not allow dual citizenship. They deserve accolades just like any other good player. It’s allowed. Like you’ve rightly put, let Zambia stick to mediocre players, not because we want to have mediocre players but because of the poor system.

  1. Just at a point when we are struggling with quality in the national team we have players out there of this quality that European big teams are beginning to jostle for his signature.
Cape Verde has grown as a footballing nation on the backbone of convincing players in Europe of Cape Verde origin to come back and play for them. If we didn’t have a nonsensical constitution that caters for dual citizenship, we could send someone from FAZ to fly to England and convince this boy to wear Zambian colours.

  2. I think we should respect the young man ‘s decision and let him be. He had chosen to be Belgian. Truth is many of us would jump at the chance to become European.
Rather than lament on what could have been we should focus on what we have and what we can do with it. We should not expect some Belgians to come and save the day for us.
Smaller nations like Cape Verde are not able to nature home grown talent but that is not the case with Zambia. We have proved in the past that we can produce some of the best in the business. What is holding us back today is political uncertainty and poor leadership.
A country like Zambia has no need to be begging outsiders to come and do things for us, things we have been doing for decades.

  3. This young man should run away from Chelsea & find a team where he will not be warming the bench. Better be in action than just making the cut for team practice. His talent will be unknown/unrecognized as a bench warmer.

  4. @ John you are right, this boy has no heart for Zambia, his father has confused this boy its all about pride in the Musonda’s family. One day is One day. This is a reason why some people don’t care at all. And this is their prerogative.

  5. Pliz lets not blame kalu . He not father to that boy. Charlie musonda used to refuse to play for Zambia . Great kalu sacrificed a lot . Let hope zulu , patson and ngoma they will make grade in Europe . I believe these players on paper they are better than dat musonda boy. Zamfoot pliz do not write about these unpatriotic zambians .

  6. why bringing isue of belgum international instead hireling a couch? we ar in truoble with these experiment we ar going through, please faz find a solution. musonda his a belgum international his father was the one was a zambian that’s all.lets close the chapter of these musonda brothers it pains.

  7. His father Charles was never a patriotic citizen of Zambia he disapointed when his services where need most the son is just following the footsteps of his father why bother about them. People are blaming Kalusha for that why?

  8. Do not blame the father, blame faz. FAZ should learn to win the hearts of players and there parents. Which good father would want to see their children working for a few individuals in faz ? FAZ should be humble and approach the father of these kids, the truth is faz is too arrogant. Keep on blaming the father of these young boys but this is one of the many cases yet to come.

  9. Some of you are really showing us your narrow mindedness! If that disgraceful Charles Musonda doesn’t want anything to do with mother Zambia then thats because he doesn’t give a damn about we he came from! Don’t Blame Kalu or/and Faz for one’s arrogance and selfishness! The guy has no heart for Zambia at all! Please lets be reasonable ladies and gentlemen

  10. forget the charly musonda thing. The man is full if selfishness and pride. Zambia can do without him….. Zambia is bigger than an individual…..we have enough talent. Kalu is a great man an achiever…he has dn alot for mother. Even at a times we thought it was all over for football in zambia… Kalu was thea is things start aflesh.the first ever president to win the afcon in the history of zambian football. The only southern african player to win the african player of the year. Its only a jealousy person who can be against kalu……… Go zambia go…its all the way to russia.

  11. Good luck to the young boy.
@Victor muyemba are saying Zamfoot should give updates only on Zambian issues? This site is visited by people all over the Globe. We can’t just be focusing on Zambian matters otherwise we will remain backwards.

  12. Blame Kalu for poor management of FAZ, Blame Kalu for corruption in FAZ, Blame Kalu for poor selection of National team Squads but guys let’s not blame Kalu for these boys not wanting to play for Zambia, the is no way a single family can make the whole country get on their knees begging them to play for a country that there whole family is from, the relatives, the ancestors, there grandparents let’s call a spade a spade these guys are not patriotic Zambian they have no love for Zambia…….

  13. I think it is unfair to call young Charly Musonda unpatriotic when he has never lived in this country. His earliest memories are of Europe and that’s the world he knows. If I born in Belgium I’d also opt to play there. Why in the world would I come back to this pigsty? Those who speak of patriotism would be the first to run given the opportunity. I understand Charles Musonda looking out for his family. I too would choose a more comfortable life for my kids. It’s enough that I would suffer I would not see my children go through the same hardship.
Back to the football, Zambia should be for Zambians. Those of us who are now walking into leadership positions should leave structures in place so that it lives and our football get better with time. This way or kids will not be ah ashamed to say they are from Zambia. This way our kids will not be put in positions where they have to decide Whether they should forsake Zambian nationality. There is no need to change the law to allow dual citizenship, so long as we make our home a great place to live.

  14. This lad will not make the Belgium National Team and if he makes it then he has to warm the bench for a long ,long time. The reason is the player who has made it hard for him to think of leaving Chelsea is the same one he has to fight it out with at National level,I Pesonally fell ZAMFOOT should not post anything about the musondas. These big teams at time just buy plyers just to come and cash in,in future so maybe will be the case with this lad.
