Patrick Phiri to takeover at Nakambala

Former national team coach Patrick Phiri is set to bounce back to coaching duties at Nakambala Leopards.

The Daily Mail reports that Nakambala Leopards have approached Phiri to takeover from Dick Ngwenya who has been sidelined at the club after a string of poor performances by the club which sees them rooted to the bottom of the log.

“We have approached Patrick [Phiri]. He has in principle agreed to come to Nakambala. What is remaining is for the two parties to work out some fine details of the contract.

“The club feels he has the right credentials to help the team survive relegation. He is an experienced coach and can handle the challenges and pressure the team is facing,” a source said.

“We have asked him to give us names of players who can strengthen the team. Our hope is that he starts work next week. We want him to be with the team during the mid-season break,” the source told Daily Mail.

Phiri ditched Green Buffaloes last season to join the Namibia Football Association as technical advisor.
He, however, left the Brave Warriors job to re-join Tanzanian giants Simba.
