Zambia international Edward Chilufya has joined Israeli top-flight side Hapoel Jerusalem on loan from Danish club FC Midtjylland for the remainder of the 2026/2027 season.
The 26-year-old attacking player, who joined Midtjylland in 2022, will spend the rest of the campaign in Israel as he looks to secure more regular first-team football.
Chilufya has made 116 appearances for Midtjylland, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists. He has also had a spell away from the Danish club on loan at Swedish side BK Häcken.
Hapoel Jerusalem currently sit 13th in the Israeli Premier League, Ligat Ha’Al, and will hope Chilufya can add attacking quality as they look to improve their position.
Midtjylland sporting director Kristian Bach Bak praised Chilufya’s professionalism while explaining the decision to send him out on loan.
“Chilufya is incredibly professional and has brought a lot of positives to the club. Despite the tough competition for the attacking positions and the limited playing time, he has delivered when he has been given the chance.”
Bak added that the move represents an opportunity for the Zambia international to play more regularly.
“We believe that a loan move is a good opportunity for him in the hunt for more playing minutes.”
Chilufya began his professional career in Zambia before moving to Europe, establishing himself with Swedish club Djurgårdens IF before earning a move to Midtjylland.
The forward will now look to make an immediate impact at Hapoel Jerusalem and use his time in Israel to regain regular playing time.
