Chambeshi takes two weeks off to rest, Chisamba not match fit as Chabinga names squad to face Lumwana

Nkana football club head coach Beston Chambeshi will continue missing from the touchline after requesting for a two-week break to rest following his time with the U23 national team in Egypt.

Nkana confirmed the development in a post on their official Facebook page monitored by the ZamFoot Crew.

“Kindly note that head coach Beston Chambeshi will not be in charge as he asked for two weeks’ rest following his return from CAF U-23 AFCON in Egypt.”

Assistant coach Manfred Chabinga will continue taking charge of the squad and has since named an eighteen member squad for tomorrow’s clash against Lumwana Radiants.

Chabinga has included U-23 international players Harrison Chisala and Moses Nyondo in the 18-man squad that traveled to Solwezi earlier today for the clash against Lumwana Radiants in Saturday’s FAZ/MTN Super League lunch-time kick-off at Independence stadium.

Midfielder Chisamba Lungu has recovered from his long term injury and has been involved in full contact training. Nkana team medics confirmed his recovery but he is not yet match-fit hence misses the trip to Solwezi.

Below is the squad that has traveled for the Lumwana assignment:

Goalkeepers: Allan Chibwe, Kelvin Malunga

Defenders: Gift Zulu, Laison thole, Harun Shakava, Moses Nyondo, Musa Mohammed,

Midfielder: Shadreck Malambo, Diamond Chikwekwe, Harrison Chisala, Kelvin Mubanga, Progress Kalenga, Duncan Otieno, Jacob Ngulube.

Strikers: Ronald Kampamba, Soutra Tshimenga, Festus Mbewe, Idris Mbombo.

  1. If he is ill or has some family issues, I can understand the need for two weeks break. Otherwise, especially given Zambia’s prompt dismissal from the tournament, I cannot understand why anyone would need to rest. Daka and Mwepu flew from Egypt to Zambia and played in a match against Zimbabwe. Then they flew to Austria and played in today’s match for Red Bull Salzburg. It seems to me that Zambia needs to find a coach who is ready to get this group of talented young players into the Africa Cup 2021 and the World Cup 2022. How about Christopher Katongo?
