CAF fixtures set as Zambian teams get West & North Africa ties

With CAF Champions League now down to the last 16 teams, the Zambian stars will continue to enjoy action apart from Winstone Kalengo whose team was booted out by Kennedy Mweene’s Mamelodi Sundowns.

Zesco United will play away in Mali against Stade Malien in the first leg before hosting the West Africans in Ndola.

Champions TP Mazembe who have Kabaso Chongo, Nathan Sinkala, Given Singuluma and Rainford Kalaba have a date Wydad AC of Morocco and will play the first leg away.

Emmanuel Mayuka’s Zamalek will play against M.O Bejaia of Algeria in an all Arab affair.

Kennedy Mweene and his Sundowns team mates booked a date with AS Vita Club of Congo.

Zambia’s interest in the Confederations Cup lies with Zanaco and unlike the Champions league which has entered the penultimate round before the group stage, the Confederations Cup still has two more rounds.

Zanaco play Stade Gabèsien of Tunisia in the second round and will host the Arabs in the firs leg.

The first leg matches will be played on the weekend of the 8th – 10th April while the return legs will be played between 19th – 20th April in both competitions.

Really? Google Stade Malien if you don’t know them. They’re far stronger than Zesco. It will be an upset for Zesco to eliminate them.

  4. In 2009 when ZESCO united made history BY becoming the first team to play the lucrative group stage of CAF Champions league,at this stage we played another Malian side in the shape of Djoliba AC. Can this b deja-vu for our team of the nation? Only time will tell. Wishing Zega mambo best of luck and repeat the feat of 2009 CAF Champuions league.

  5. @Benjamin your point is ambigious. Zesco became the first Zambian club to reach the group stage or the whole continent. Please clarify
