Unveiling of Zambia’s technical bench comprising Beston Chambeshi, Numba Mumamba and Aljosa Asanovic before commencement of the Qatar World Cup Qualifiers was received with mixed feelings by Chipolopolo faithful.
A three-month contract was given to the technical bench to guide the 2012 AFCON Champions through the tricky Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.
While some quarters argued that Beston Chambeshi was the right man to lead the qualifying campaign, having previously worked with the core of the current crop of players at U20 level, certain sections doubted the Nkana gaffer’s ability to steer the Chipolopolo Boys to a maiden World Cup appearance.

Despite a positive start that saw the Chipolopolo Boys claim maximum points in Mauritania on match-day 1, it is safe to say that things have not gone according to plan.
The Chipolopolo Boys have finished a disappointing 3rd in Group B – collecting 7 points from a possible 18, behind Equatorial Guinea [11 points] and Tunisia [13 points] in ascending order respectively, with it an abrupt end of the Road to Qatar 2022.
Where do we go from here with regards to the technical bench?
Have your say….

Let’s start with the faz administration. Kamanga wherever he’s gone with regards to football admin he has failed. Kitwe United, Kabwe warriors just to mention these two..
Kamanga doesn’t motivate players like kalusha bwalya used to..
For me it is safe to say, the faz administration is the problem..we sort out the top bosses then, we go to players and start retiring players like those defenders who have also failed to improve
With me, i see a good side that is abound with talent and skill and even the current technical bench is well able, what i find hard to understand is our hiring of coaches, usually they are hired six, four or two months prior to a tournament at times even weeks, coaches elsewhere are given two or four year contracts what we do is like planting maize today and expecting a harvest tomorrow
On point
You have hit the nail on its head. My question is? Why do these coaches accept such appointments? Fully knowing they are being appointed at the wrong time with short term contracts. I would refuse If it were me. All this points to the FAZ Executive who expect results with in a short period. FAZ are to blame. So far we have had 3 coaches appointed in the same style
FAZ dont know what they are doing.
For sure our faz president is the first to be blamed, let’s take an example of our friends Game played against Gana Vs south African.
Gana was awarded a penalty And the south Africans did not rest until they did there part to appeal and have been given another chance to play the game again.
And Zambia faz failed to appeal the game which was played in equatorial Guinea. Faz president there is no.
Good time to step away FAZ in my view.
Faz administration first should go and then the rest should follow
The technical bench should remain with the objective of qualifying to the AFCON..I feel the team needs to now blend and what has been noticed with regards to one ore two defenders and a goalkeeper can now be worked on….Rome was not built in a day mwebantu!!
Bwana those defenders and goalkeeper you are writing about are past the age of learning. Nsabata is 27 years, he is supposed to have learnt already. You start to learn at at to tender age. Remember you cant teach an old dog new tricks

AK is a failure and too cowardly to take the blame for this nonsense. He will shift the blame to the coaches and players but to be honest over the course time we have changed coaches and players in search for better results but nothing! I have noted that only two things have remained constant of the period of time, Him and the poor results. It’s out time he changed him to. Let’s Save Zambian football before it’s too late.

First and foremost Kamanga and his useless administration must go together with Chambeshi…It is very clear that chambeshi lacks tactical and technical abilities in terms of reading the game and managing the national Team…in short the team is too big for him.. currently we have alot of good players playing abroad which Chambeshi will never accommodate no matter how good the players are..but will always find means and ways of accommodating useless players like Solomon Sakala,Boyd Musonda and others…We need a good coach preferably an expatriate one who will accomodate all good players especially those playing abroad….
It’s time to go flat out to manufacture eight defenders with the following distribution:
A. 4/5 position two dependable defenders each position- Tana to assist in identifying players of the right build and physique. Looking at TP Mazembe, I understand why they are no longer the giants of African football they used to be probably because Katumbi no longer has the financial muscle he had in the past and as such can only attract Thandi and Kabaso who have failed to improve his team whose performance we have all seen. How do we identify suitable defenders?
Let us not just go and look for defenders. Let us also look at players who can be converted from there current positions maybe that’s where the answer lies. We have had successful stories in the past converting players from certain positions to other positions with remarkable success. Examples being Stopila Nsunzu and Melu were not defenders but look at the germs that were unearthed.
B. 3 and 2- Simon Silwimba has served us with distinction in a period we have failed to qualify but has always been a work horse whom we have relied upon. Time to identify at least two replacements for each position now and groom them for the next Afcon qualifiers. The young man Prosper Chiluya has the potential to de very well if natured and if he maintains his focus.
C. No. 6, The holding midfield has been problematic for some time now leading to our failure to qualify for major tournaments. Again here we need to look for suitable players and others who can be successfully converted to these positions. Sometimes these players need one on one attention. We already have Boyd Musonda and Kelvin Kapumbu (the latter just needs to improve his on field discipline). I believe if these boys can be groomed for the task at hand ie qualifying the next Afcon these are the two immediate candidates candidates plus who ever will be unearthed before the qualifiers start. The other positions from 7 to 11 we just need to identify cover incase of injury and plan for succession. In short we need to plan strategically for each and every position starting yesterday after the we lost to Tunisia.
We have teams like Kafue Celtic and the previous Lusaka Dynamos which are the right breeding ground for the material we are looking for.
In summary lets go flat out now we don’t have to wait for the next qualifiers.
With the flooding of useless foreign half baked players in to the Zambian league by our top clubs ( Zesco, Nkana, Power etc) it will be difficult to indentfy these defenders you are writing about. There is just too many useless foreign players in the Zambian league who are not even adding any value. Most of these are not National team players for their respective Countries. In the UK for instance any foreign player from a non Eurpean Union Country can only be signed on if he is an Internal player who has featured for his Country in the last 15 international games and should have played more than 25 international games (junior level included), this elimnates tourist and money making types of football players
The number of foreign players a club in Zambia should sign ought to be limited to 3 for the ZPL and non for the lower ranks. This will protect the young talented home based Zambian players and give a chance to feature for the top clubs in Zambia. As long as this is not retfied we are heading no where mark my words
The problem basically is also to do with out local coaches, FAZ should undertake a policy of sending local coaches to football schools, those coaching clinics held at Heroes stadium are not helping matters at all! The quality of players is determined by their club coaches, now if quality of club coaches is poor, how can they produce classy players! During Nchanga Consolidated Copper mines (NCCM) and Roan Consolidated Copper Mines (RCCM) days, it was (the company), the mines sponsoring coaches to England , Brazil etc for professional training. But now there’s no company doing that, and we end up with players who can’t think! Our current defenders should watch clips of Ackim Musenge , Dick Chama, Kaizer Kalambo etc, these are players who could scoop the ball from the goal using bicycle kick to avoid it crossing to he line. But today’s defenders are ball watching. And there’s just no leader in the current national team! Inspiration leader! What has gone wrong?
During those days we did not have 1 million useless foreign players in the Zambian Super league, this time around we have them like a swam of beers serious issue and food for thought
@Mukuka M that is very true . Local coaches need support system to facilitate their coaching studies at the highest level then we shall see good results . Any coach attached from u17 to the highest level must have good qualifications. The selection for the national team is pathetic too . The technical team must cast the net wider as we have a number of youngsters featuring in the European leagues
Local coaches hate school even faz were to send them to school for free they would refuse just like Nyirenda did. Zambian football won’t develop coz even the local coaches with caf D and C licences keep rotating from one club to the other lacking knowledge on modern football. Once clubs start hiring even qualified coaches from outside local coaches will be forced to go to school coz of competition but as for now they have arrived. Our players are subjected to stone age tactics and its the reason why most of them fail when they go outside.
Ver true it must start from the academies. Academies should only be run by fully qualified coaches.
From where are these coaches going to come from. We are behind for sure
It’s time the Faz President Kambwanga called for football ndaba
Any coach with Caf D or C coaching qualification must not be near club for coaching
You are right especially not the ZPL may be division 1
@GSK11 . Thanks for the acknowledgements on another forum bro.
Chambeshi TO GO and Kamanga also TO GO. People have given reasons why Kamanga should also go with his Executive.
Tunisian Coach analysed the Zambian team well. They attacked us from the wings. The played with 3 defenders and used wing backs and packed the midfield. Zambia looked like school boys especially the 1st Half.
I’m sorry to say that Dickson Chapa is not National Team material. He was terrible as a Defensive Midfielder. N.Sinkala i don’t know what wrong he has done could have helped the teams as well as Sunzu. N.Sinkala & L.Bwalya are currently the best we have as DM.
Chambeshis is miles behind to Coach the boys we have now. E.Banda ,E.Chilufya, K.Kangwa and the boys in the UK, Cletus Chama…. are bow exposed to better Coaching methods. Still baffled why he benched K.Kangwa or L.Bwalya who started the other game?
I wish the media can continue to pressure this FAZ Executive to account for what has happened to our soccer the last couple of years.
Chambeshi is not a good coach please remove him from helm Zambia nation team technical bench is far much behind
