Konkola Blades F.C. produced a statement result with a 1–0 victory over ZESCO United F.C., while crowd disturbances overshadowed a tense goalless draw between Red Arrows F.C. and Power Dynamos F.C. in Lusaka.
Mutama Magic Downs ZESCO
Steven Mutama was the hero for Blades, curling home a superb free kick to secure all three points in a tightly contested encounter.
The strike proved decisive as Konkola climbed to seventh place on 30 points, while ZESCO remain 11th on 25 points.
The victory was particularly significant for the Chililabombwe outfit, marking their first win over ZESCO United since 2013 — a result that could reignite their push up the MTN Super League table.
Trouble at Nkoloma
At Nkoloma Stadium, football took a back seat as crowd trouble marred an otherwise competitive contest between the league’s top two sides.
The match ended 0–0 after a cagey battle in which Power Dynamos dominated the first half, while Red Arrows improved significantly after the break to finish the stronger side.
Clear-cut chances were limited, with both defences standing firm in a high-stakes encounter.
However, tensions boiled over in added time when a supporter entered the pitch following a foul on Albert Kangwanda, who appeared poised to race through on goal.
The individual reportedly slapped the referee before being restrained, sparking unrest in the stands.
After the final whistle, disorder escalated as some supporters in the open wing began throwing objects at one another.
Approximately 20 people were reportedly injured, with medical personnel responding swiftly to attend to those affected.
Despite the draw, Red Arrows remain top of the table on 40 points, with Power Dynamos just a point behind on 39 — keeping the title race finely poised.
The incidents at Nkoloma are likely to draw scrutiny and sanctions from league authorities, casting a shadow over what was billed as one of the season’s defining fixtures.
