Sakala Could Seal English Comeback with Promotion-Hunting Boro

Middlesbrough F.C. are reportedly lining up a sensational summer move for Zambian forward Fashion Sakala, according to the Scottish Sun.

The former Rangers F.C. attacker has impressed since leaving Ibrox in 2023, enjoying a prolific spell with Al-Fayha FC in the Saudi Pro League.

Sakala, 28, has scored 40 goals in 96 appearances across all competitions for Al-Fayha, underlining his consistency over the past three seasons.

His form has attracted interest from clubs in the UK and France, with Middlesbrough closely monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Championship side are understood to be weighing up a move as they push for promotion to the Premier League.

Sakala has been in fine touch this season, netting 10 goals in 21 appearances, further boosting his stock.

Al-Fayha paid around £4 million to sign the Zambian international from Rangers, with the Scottish giants believed to have inserted a sell-on clause in the deal.

However, reports suggest Rangers could miss out on any windfall, as Sakala’s contract is set to expire in June. A potential move to Middlesbrough would therefore see him join as a free agent, denying the Ibrox club any future transfer fee.

With Middlesbrough currently sitting second in the Championship, just two points behind leaders Coventry, the prospect of Premier League football could prove a major attraction for Sakala as he considers a return to British football.
