Believe guys says former FAZ GS

Former FAZ General Secretary George Kasengele has urged fans to believe that the Chipolopolo Boys can beat Mozambique.

Posting on social media following Zambia’s 2-1 defeat to Guinea Bissau on Sunday night in West Africa, Kasengele wrote that Zambia pulled through in 2014 ‘when all was lost.’

In the qualifiers for the 2015, African Cup of Nations, Zambia came head to head needing a victory.

Then coached by Honor Janza, the Chipolopolo Boys emerged victorius on the day to qualify for African Cup of Nations.

“During the AFCON 2015 qualification round with two games to go, we pulled through when all was lost due home blunders by winning in Maputo,” Kasengele wrote on his page as monitored by ZamFoot crew

“We are going to Maputo next month. It’s a perfect repeat of that round of qualification matches. Believe guys.”

Next month’s clash at Estadio de Machava will be the third meeting between the two neighbours in the last seven years at almost the same stage.

In 2011, Dario Bonetti’s side silenced the home crowd with goals from Collins Mbesuma and substitute Emmanuel Mayuka to earn maximum points before a full goalless draw sealed qualification to the Gabon/Equatorial Guinea AFCON 2012.

Fast track to 2018, Belgian coach Sven Vandenbroeck has a task of emulating why Bonetti and Janza’s sides did in 2011 and 2014 by collecting maximum points.

Though the Black Mambas have just picked a point from a possible six at home against Guinea Bissau and Namibia, they are not pushover.

Before the date against Zambia in November, Mozambique has away tie on Tuesday against Namibia.

On the other hand, since losing to Mozambique last year at home, Zambia has hired a Belgian coach Sven Vandenbroeck and the Chipolopolo have only collected four points out of nine under the expatriate coach.

Zambia will wrap up the qualifiers next year in March with a home tie against Namibia at National Heroes Stadium.

Guinea Bissau lead Group K with 7 points while Zambia is level on 4 points with Mozambique and Namibia.
