An 18th minute Mwape Mwelwa goal was enough to send Zesco United into joint top of the FAZ Super League when they beat visiting Choma Eagles 1 – 0.
The win moved the Ndola side to 29 points level on points and goal difference with Zanaco though Zanaco leads of goals scored.
Green Eagles remain stuck in the relegation zone in 13th position.
Chipolopolo care taker coach George Lwandamina returned to club activities after guiding Zambia to the second round of the CHAN qualifiers and he named three players who started in the game against Namibia in the starting lineup.
Kondwani Mtonga, Jackson Mwanza and Winstone Kalengo all started but were substituted in the second half with Zesco already in the lead.
There was also an emotional return to the starting lineup for goalkeeper Satchmo Chakawa who started for Green Eagles. Chakawa was injured in a road traffic accident on Zesco United bus on his way to Lusaka for national team duty.
Zesco United’s next two games are against Power Dynamos ( Kitwe, Thursday, 9th July. 17:30) and Zanaco ( Lusaka,Sunday, 12th July. 15:00).
