The Zambia under twenty national soccer team has received a meritorious national award given by the Republican President HE Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
In awarding the team, the President’s Insignia for Meritorious Achievement at the Africa Freedom Day investiture ceremony, the president acclaimed the team for winning the 2017 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
“You brought honour and glory to our country by winning the U20 Africa Cup. You believed and embraced the coach’s phylosophy and tactics.
You exhibited high levels of passion.
You remained focused despite the obstacles you faced.
You triumphed because you fixed your eyes on the trophy,” the team’s exhaltation read in part.
The awards were given for each individual player and members of the technical bench.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president, Andrew Kamanga was on hand to receive the award on behalf of the team.
The team is currently in South Korea where they are playingin the World Cup tournament and they have qualified to he round of 16.

The boys are doing the nation proud. Though it’s good to reward them but they need money not an award on paper chabe. Awe!! If they go further like the semis then they should be motivated with cash incentives not just lip service.
Though we grateful to Govt for paying for their camp before the tournament and everything done so far.
