Zambia Under-15 girls’ striker Phidah Muzuwa, continues to impress at the CAF African Schools Championship in Harare, Zimbabwe, after scoring her fourth goal of the tournament in a hard-fought encounter against Morocco.
Muzuwa found the back of the net in the 20th minute, delivering a decisive blow to the determined North Africans, who had earlier held hosts Zimbabwe to a 2-2 draw in their opening match at Gateway High School.
The in-form forward has already netted a hat-trick against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in Zambia’s opening fixture on Monday.
Zambia now sit comfortably at the summit of Group A with six points, followed by DR Congo on three while Morocco and hosts Zimbabwe have one point apiece.
Speaking after the match, head coach Chisala Chibesa praised her side’s performance and emphasized their ambition in the competition.
“We needed to send a strong message to the other teams. The girls showed great determination, and we are here not just to participate, but to compete and win,” said Chibesa.
Goalkeeper Winfridah Mutale once again impressed between the posts having conceded just a solitary goal so far in the tournament.
She credited her teammates for their resilience against a physically strong Moroccan side.
“It wasn’t an easy game, but the team stood firm. We defended well and supported each other throughout,” said Mutale.
