Zambia U-17 national team arrived safely in Morocco ahead of the Africa Cup and the boys have already gotten down to work getting themselves ready for the mini-tournament before the big one starts.
George Chilufya is happy with the way the boys have acclimatized and he will make sure he keeps giving guidance to them.
“As usual when you travel first you have to acclimatize and our first session this morning (Sunday) was just about that, we had a long trip a bit hectic for the boys and of course ourselves but I feel they did their best in this session,” he said.
“The weather is not so bad a bit cloudy and a bit of rain but not that cold I think it’s not a big challenge to our boys that’s why we had to try and put them through those paces to make sure they just acclimatize before we get into our next session in the afternoon,” he added
“These are boys that are just developing so they need our guidance in almost everything all aspects of life so individual discussions are very important to the team they should know where we are coming from they should also know where we are. Some of them it’s the first time to be in areas like here there are lucky I have been here a couple of times am just trying to orient them, concentration levels should always be high, the level of fitness we are not worried but we are going to concentrate more on tactics and the mental aspect of the game,” he added.
Zambia is in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Uganda, and Ivory Coast, who will battle in the opener on March 14 at the Moulay Hassan stadium.
Before the tournament, George Chilufya’s boys are expected to play international friendly matches against Cameroon, Nigeria, and FUS Rabat U17.
Well done Coach George. Talks to young boys like these do them good. I have so much faith in these boys that they will go far in this tournament. At least qualify for the U17 World Cup.
