Zambia, Mozambique beef up squads for final leg

MOZAMBIQUE coach Helder ‘Mano Mano’ Muianga has summoned midfielder Nelson Debroso and defender Dario Can for Sunday’s decisive 2016 Rwanda African Nations Championship (CHAN) last round return leg against Zambia.

The Daily Mail reports that Muianga has looped in Debroso and Dario to strengthen the Mambas.

“The players [Debroso and Dario] we have called to the squad are very good. They will add competition to the team. We are training very hard, we are still in the competition.

“Zambia has good players, we played against a strong and quality side. But we are still confident of scoring three unanswered goals,” Muianga said.

Chipolopolo coach George Lwandamina has also beefed up his squad with more attacking options after calling in three more players as his team prepares for the Mozambique clash.

Zanaco top scorer Moses Phiri (seven goals this season) who is also U23 striker has been summoned to the Chipolopolo camp as well as well as Zesco United high scoring attacking midfielder Mwape Mwelwa who has scored six goals this season.

Green Eagles striker Mwila Phiri has also been called to camp.

The winner over two legs will qualify for the final tournament of the 2016 African Nations Championship to be hosted by Rwanda in January.

    • That is a player right there, Chipolopolo need such natural-strong-well disciplined sons to be in national team. Not aba abaiche muleta abakuma yard.

  1. Walter Bwalya!!!!!!!????????? I wondered last Saturday the reason coach Lwanda featured Mudenda! Like Sate Sate r club players.not national!

  2. Yeah Cletus Chama is serious knocking on those door. He reminds me of one Francis Chisenga who once set alight the then Botswana top flight. He will definitely don the green and/or green and gold jersey of Zambia. Only time will tell.

  3. This is a small tournament where u can try patson daka and the like. It’s a tournament for small boys. I question the sanity of zambian coaches when I see them starting small boys like patson and Boyd mkandawire in serious world cup and afcon qualifiers. This has to come to a stop. Seasoned strikers and defenders must play the big games no more experiments.

  4. Just a comment on Moses Phiri we are underutilising this player n before we know it he will b too oid.time 2 use him is now. I say so coz now we reving about kalengo but in truth winstone showed potential a long time ago but was ignored till when he is 30 now.let’s not do the same to Moses. We have already lost out on Kennedy mudenda

  6. Mozambique turning the tables with Zambia perched on top! I don’t think it can happen any time in the near future.Mozambique is one of those teams that have failed to beat Zambia when Zambian football was at its lowest standard. The game in Mozambique will be an open one if at all the Mambas would be gunning for three or more strikes .The hunter snakes could still turnout to be the hunted and this is most likely.

  7. By the way Zamfoot please, Can you display our local league tables including our lower divisions since there almost concluding and the drama has heated up, some fighting for promotion ,some for survival, some to finish in continental brackets, some for the big crown the mtn faz super league. Things are getting interesting at the moment.

  8. The mozambiqan cotch, he is not comfident but he is tring to instill fear in the zambian team how can he live betta players on away game. At this point the tables remains the same

  9. The striking force is okay lets enforce the midfield by bringing in Micheck Chaila . Boyd Mkandawire is not bad but let him concentrate at U23 level. Zesco United right full back can be considered.

  10. Who r these Debroso n Dario? If they r that gud, y did the coach leave them out in the first leg? The best result for the mambas ll b a 1 all draw or else we ll hammer them 1 nil. I know they ll b hungry to get quick goals bt that ll b at their own peril bcoz we ll b catching them on the counter.

  11. Mozambique will be very vulnerable becoz the’ll need to score four unanswered goals or 3 and force penalties. George Lwandamina knows how to pack the bus I’m sure you saw how he did with Kenya. Even in our super league, Zesco manages to score early and defend all the way. We need to play quick paced wingers so that we should catch them on a counter. Charles Zulu, Mwape Mwelwa, Kalengo, Sautu and Moses Phiri are a good bet to finish off the Mambas. I haven’t watched Mwila Phiri but I hear he is very good. If I were the coach, I would play Jacob Banda or Munyao in goal, Dauti Musekwa, Boyd, Buchizya and Munthali in defence. Jack Chirwa in holding role and then play Mwape Mwelwa and Charles Zulu in the wings. I’d play Sautu as a box to box midfielder to help both in defence and in attack. Winstone and Moses Phiri would be deployed to do the damage upfront. Be assured the nets will break. When they get tired I’d bring in golden boy Conlyde Luchanga and Mwila Phiri to finish the job. We can even score four unanswerd goals in Mozambique coz it’ll be an open game.

  12. atleast am impressed with the current inclusions it is what it is folks we need serious performing lads in the team who will grab the oppotunity with both hands but why do this always when we are in red.The Egpyt game for intance was supposed to respected but it was not we need to be serious in alot of things as a nation or we will be always one step forward and two backwards.

  13. Go and finish the talkertive coach of the Mozambiquans. I just couldnt believe the coach saying he doesnt fear Ghana at once instead of concentrating on getting maximum points from teams in the group. Here lies the lazy Mambas beaten by Rwanda in Maputo and whipped by Mauritius whom we whitewashed using no seriousness at all. And here lies the case; they will be visiting in march. I cant wait to see them here. They are already out of the AFCON and I think our fringe players would fancy increasing their tallies.
Finish that lazy team. It sucks
