Zambia draw Sudan in World Cup qualifiers

Zambia will join the race to the 2018 Russia World Cup with a tricky round two encounter against tough customers, Sudan in November this year.

Zambia will first travel to Khartoum before hosting the Falcons of Jediane in Zambia. The two matches are set to be played between November 9-17, 2015.

Should Zambia win this two legged affair, the Chipolopolo will then join 19 other Countries in round three. The twenty countries in round three will then be drawn into five round-robin, home-and-away groups of four teams each.

The winners of these five groups will then represent Africa in Russia at the FIFA World Cup.

  1. Zambia will wallop Sudan if we get a proper coach now! We are poor yes but let’s find the money otherwise we will be disgraced. With mayuka, kola, Sunzu, katebe, chisamba, lubambo, kalaba, fwayo, mtonga and Nathan sinkala zambia has very good players.

  2. Sudan is a weak team you like complaining what if we had drawn togo? Sudan is weak just hammer them. Get a good coach simple

    • Lool !!

THAT IS MY GOOD OLD JOHN—>DOUBTFUL THOMAS<—

A GOOD COACH WILL HELP THE CHIPOS….

ITS PSYCHOLOGICALLY THE GREAT KALU WHO IS BAFFLING THE CHIPOS
PLAYERS MINDS..KALU TIME IS PAST..HE HAS HELPED ZAMBIA.

ZAMBIA NEEDS A CHANGE IN ZFA ADMINISTRATION PERIOD..

      • Kwame, the clowns in Zambia don’t get it. Its fun that there are some people that want Kalu to be president for life, that’s some real slave mentality out there, but that’s just Zambian for you. Stupidity that’s all everytime.

  3. even their ligue is strong than psl & congolese ligue, So Far they hav 2 teams playing in 2015 caf champions ligue & There Doing Well, Al Hilal & El Mereikh. Most Of Their Players Comes From The Two Side.

  5. lwandamina cant beat the sudanese side coached by tactician muhammed abdullar mazda!!!!. u wil be shockd in khartoum & being held at home & they wil be no free points this time. mark my words in red.

  6. Underrate Sudan at your own peril. They may not have household names in their squad but trust me they are a well groomed and organised side with enough ammunition to hurt our suspicious defending. Zambia just needs to act quickly here. Find a good coach asap and arrange credible friendly matches including one against Ethiopia. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

  7. Confirmed Sudan are out before they even kicked the ball. Zambia will parade a star studded team. Sudan is useless a grade one pupil can coach Zambia and beat Sudan . Caf should have given us Ghana . Lolo

  8. No shambolic travel arrangements this tym and pse get into Khartoum at least 4 days before the encounter so that you can acclamatise in their extreme temperatures .
Being a two legged encounter , i expect Sudan to storm out of their corner searching for that opener .Zambia should therefore deploy a defensive formation and hit them on the break.Coach Simutowe is becoming a master of this ….that is grinding results away from home.

  9. Rainford kalaba is a very f00lish boy. I think zamfoot must do an interview with him. Let him explain to the nation why he is scared of going to France. Renard will never bench him so why is he denying the nation glory.

    • I take it you spoke to Renard and he assured you that he would never bench Kalaba? Are we talking about Lilie FC or Nakambala Leopards? This is a big club dude, no guarantees.

      • Ba john always talks about having rights not privileges. If he was a coach he would using same starting eleven whether a play is. Injured or not!!!

  10. Sudan is not as strong as they were in 2012-13. However with or without a foreign coach as long as Kalu is at football house I don’t see Zambia in Russia. This time I wont even kill myself to raise hope when those thieves are just stealing money.

Even if we had a foreign coach now and the CHAN team Namibia, how do you explain the none payment of allowances to those boys even after a sellout crowd at Nkholoma?

Our football problems have nothing to do with a foreign coach currently but has much to do with Administration.

Unfortunately with these so called football administrators we have Kalu is almost guaranteed of a third term next March.

    Malabishi!

  11. Tricky encounter indeed,Chipolopolo need to prepare adquately for them to progress in these qualifiers.I feel Zambia could be chucked out because Sudan has been a thorn in the flesh to Chipolopolo.

  12. With proper preparations, Zambia will go through. Kalusha please bring us a good coach with a tracking record.Kola,Mayuka,Lubambo,Kalaba,Sunzu,Katebe,S Nathan Mukuka,Mweene and few more

  13. The Sudanese Team is no match for Zambia. What always kills us in Sudan is the weather. We make poor travel arrangements and arrive late in the searing heat of Khartoum, and lose. Always by 2-0.
This time around, lets train hard, and arrive early even by 5-4 days and we shall triumph. To always depend on return matches will not always work in our favour.

  14. If the sudanese coach can’t beat a honour jaza coached team he is not a tactician .. He lost in lusaka last year. And worse he lost to dark stars by a rugby score line. Useless they are not even Perennial campaigners in any competition. They can never be a stumbling block on our way.

  15. In all fairness, with due respect to Sudan being a decent side, they are not as strong as they were 2-4 years ago. They may have two teams playing in the CAF champions league but know they have professional players from other African countries playing in Sudan. But as a national team, they are not at their best at the moment. However Chipolopolo must prepare well for these encounter. The advantage is we will have to travel first to Sudan, and that is a plus. If we can force a draw in Khartoum, then we should be able to finish the game in the return leg in Zambia.

  16. Let us not forget that Sudan are the reason that the Super Eagles of Nigeria failed to qualify for Afcon 2015 in Gabon. They beat Nigeria in Khartoum in October 2014. Anyone thinking that they are a spent force and will not be a threat to Zambia should think again. We may be next on their list of casualties. This will be a tricky tie.

  17. In addition, the last time Sudan came to Zambia, they drew 1-1 with us at Levy Mwanawasa and are the reason we went to Ghana needing a win to qualify for the world cup.

  18. The simple reason why Zambia has not been to the World Cup is this same warped idea of beating teams before you even play them. Its been 50 years folks. We need not underrate any team and just do our part. Prepare adequately in all departments. Failure to do so will bring failure.

  19. Guys it is Sudan who are supposed to be having sleepless nights not the other way round,us all we have to do is take them seriously,Sudanese, and prepare well then boom, we are in the group stage.

  20. @Billy, we are talking about competitive football here and not friendlies. Sudan also brought a developmental side to Zambia. Zambia drew the last competitive match with Sudan and that is the fact.

  21. Tricky match. Gone are the days of underrating teams. This Sudan team will have their tails up cos the beat us 2-0 during the last W.C qualifiers.

  22. The last time I checked we couldn’t even beat Lesotho. Make no mistake about it Sudan are no pushovers (home or away). The first step to self destruct is to underrate your opponents. Lets not leave in the past, lets just get to work to avoid finger pointing and name calling later.

  23. Guys let’s talk about our technical bench and coaching staff. Sudan will be a thorn in our fresh if FAZ won’t bring a new coach and improve on travel arrangements. And stop camping in South Africa when the game will be played in Khartoum 45 degs . Period!

  24. Boy or boy why this fuss of worring about little stuborn, for sure, Sudan. All we have to do is take them seriouly and prepare well which am sure Kalu will look into because he knows that he is in red after those below par performers against stupid useless teams like GB,Malawi and Namibia because he ,Kalu, was busy in marketing players for his friends and the elections are just around the horizon. So folks stop this worring game but instead lets put our big football heads together to plot how we will relagate Sudan where it belongs.

  25. Sudan is a thorn in the flesh. After africon 1996 we drawn against Sudan in world cup as we have been drawn,Sudan beat Zambia by 2 goals to Nil,then Zambia beat Sudan 3 goals to nill to qualify to next stage.Africon 2012 we lost by 2 goals and only Sudan to lose points but Zambia lost the actual Match.Zambia drew at Mwanawasa stadium.

  26. Ba Zamfoot your articles are really shallow. I wish you could bring out more info whenever you throw a topic to the fans for discussion. Like in this case you could’ve reminded us on past meetings of Zambia and Sudan, statistics etc just to give bloggers a better perspective from which to comment. A bit more info would be appreciated.

  27. Zambia 4-2 Sudan then p Sudan,Sudan 4-2 Zambia world cup qualify 1968.Africa cup 2008 and 2012 zambia 3-0 Sudan in both tounarments.Africa cup Qualifier. Sudan 0-1 Zambia in 2002 and 2003 Zambia 1-1,1983 Sudan 2-1 Zam return match Zambia 0-0 Sudan.East and central Sudan 2-1 Zambia 1980,1981 zam 2-0 Suda,1991 Sudan 2-3 Zam.CECAFA Zam 0-0 Sudan (11-10 pen).Sudan than it was in 2013 also Zambia is than it was in 2012.in world cup qualifier Sudan gives a hard time and Sudanese are not or were not happy when Zambia was gifted free points there is rivarly. Its not goin to be ease.

  28. history is nothing let prepare for this game or else we will be disappointed, Sudan is not a weak team & don’t forget they are also preparing for this matches.

  29. The whole feeling around the chipo team tells me they might not qualify to the World Cup. A team who wants to get a breakthrough for the first time and especially in the world cup should had settled on a coach a long time ago. by now, the teach should be climbing a steedy path towards a peak which would enable it play some gruesome away legs competively. Mind you that the stage after this one is very tough. Pot A of west african and a pot B of North African countries is a total no joke zone. I dont think Zambia is in shape as at now to beats 2 of such teams both home and away and top their group.
