We should not underrate Comoros, they have improved a lot – Katongo

Zambia Women’s National Team midfielder Evarine Susan Katongo says she is expecting a tough match from Comoros who have ‘improved a lot’.

Katongo believes the Copper Queens should not underrate Comoros who she feels has improved a lot and are playing very good football as evidenced by their win over Angola.

The Luyando Foundation Girls product wants the team to avoid the mistakes they made in the first group game against Angola.

“I think facing Comoros won’t be an easy game, It will be a tough game. In our group we are only three teams and they are only getting one team to go to the semifinals. It won’t be so easy, they have prepared well like we watched them against Angola they played so well,” she said.

“We have to play well, and not underrate them . They are playing very good football and have improved so much. We have to prepare well so that we don’t make the same mistake we made in the first game against Angola.”

The Copper Queens opened their group C account with a 3-0 win over Angola thanks to goals from Ochumba Oseke Lubanji, Lungowe Namasiku, and Regina Chanda.

Comoros on the other hand shocked Angola by beating them 3-1 to give themselves a fair chance of qualifying to the semifinals.

The winner between Zambia and Comoros will qualify to the semifinals of the 2024 COSAFA Women’s Championship.

Kick off at the Madibaz Stadium is set at 12h00 Central African Time. The winner will face defending Champions Malawi in the semifinals.
