Vanderoeck expects tough test against Gabon, as Chipolopolo train in Libreville

The Zambia national soccer team on Monday afternoon took time to train ahead of the international against Gabon to be played in Libreville on Tuesday evening.

The Chipolopolo arrived in Gabon at 11.30hrs local time and quickly got down to business with coach Sven Vandebroeck taking the lads through their paces.

Vandebroeck says he anticipates his team to get a good test against the Panthers.

“It’s a good test for us to face a team which likes to play the ball,” Sven said from the team’s training base.

“The young players who have made the long trip, will have the opportunity to take advantage of the chance to play in the absence of some senior players to show their capabilities ahead of the decisive encounters in October,” he added.

Gabon have confirmed that they will be without their star striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Mario Lemina who have returned to their clubs.

Both Zambia and Gabon drew their Africa Cup qualifier games over the weekend against Namibia and Burundi respectively.

Mr. Coach you have no preferences in international competitions, you don’t choose your opponents like friendly games, therefore you must be ready for everyone. It is like saying you wanted Namibia to play like Gabon then Zambia would have won

The benching of Mwepu was a very big blunder/error at Primary School level. The artificial turf claim is just an excuse. Mwepu did train with the under20 on the artificial turf at the independence stadium, on several occusions, meaning he is used and was aware of this fact

From what I have heard about the report from the game only, Kabaso Chongo should have played and not Sinkala and Kalaba. These 2 should have started on the bench period. We already had a team in place. Watch the video of the Nigeria Vs Zambia game from the last World cup qualification round. Ask yourself the reason why Kalaba is always substituted at his Mazembe club?? He barely completes a game

Kabaso Chongo is the only of the 3 from Mazembe that deserves to be in the team. I hope Brian Mwila finds his old form in Austria

Old legs when we have the young and fresh legs iwe ka coach kwati kupena. Do not destroy what already is in place, build on that. My opinion

A draw or loss vs Gabon then you have to be fired, chapwa. Ku kutamfya no room for a coach who cant deliver. You are being paid from day one (1), results from the same day one (1)

  1. Ba Lukanga, ….Ngabafula kulyapo fye bamo.
So napa pene ba coach ngabafula kusula po bamo.

Anyway this is the team we expect to be playing “tomorrow” so in as much as we shall miss the 5 who are out, we need these to coheres.
