U-20 WWCQs: Haalubono, Katongo expect tough match away in Malawi

Zambia U-20 Women’s national team head coach Charles Haalubono says his team will not underrate Malawi despite carrying a 6-0 advantage.

Haalubono is expecting a tough match when the two teams meet in a Costa Rica 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup second round second leg qualifier at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday.

“We have prepared well, The players responded well in training and we are happy. No injury concerns, we only had minor injuries,” Haalubono told the ZamFoot Crew.

” We are not underrating Malawi, They are a good team that played well, despite losing by that margin. We can’t make that mistake of underrating them.”

“The fans must expect a positive result. We will try by all means to work extra hard and defend our lead,” he added.

The skipper of the side, Evarine Susan Katongo also reiterated the coach’s sentiments, saying she is expecting Malawi to through everything at them.

“I know we won six nil at home, but we are going away and we know Malawi we will come at us with everything they have because they know that we are both good sides. We will work hard to make sure we win even the second leg,” Katongo said.

“The morale is high in the camp and during training, every one put in their best. Everyone is prepared to win the game away in Malawi.”

The Young Copper Queens have already arrived in Malawi ahead of Saturday’s clash. The plane touched down at Kamuzu International Airport at exactly 15:10hrs local time.
