Attacking midfielder Gilbert Tentani has left MTN Super League side Mufulira Wanderers after the expiration of his 18-month loan spell, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
The creative midfielder joined the Shinde Stadium outfit in January 2024 from Trident FC on a one-year-and-six-month loan agreement and quickly established himself as a key figure in the Wanderers midfield.
During his time with Abena Milambo, Tentani contributed seven assists and one goal, earning praise for his creativity, vision and ability to unlock opposition defences. He was also part of the squad that won the second edition of the IRH-Mopani Challenge Cup, adding silverware to his spell at the club.
In a statement, Mufulira Wanderers thanked the player for his commitment and professionalism throughout his stay.
“While we are sad to see him leave, we respect his decision and thank him for his dedication, professionalism, and the moments he created in our colours. From everyone at Mufulira Wanderers FC, we wish Tentani all the best in his future endeavours,” the club said.
Tentani’s departure is expected to fuel speculation over his next destination, with the midfielder strongly linked with a move to nine-time Zambian champions ZESCO United.
Sources indicate that ZESCO United have tabled a reported two-year contract offer as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign. While no agreement has been officially announced, the Ndola-based giants are understood to be leading the race for the midfielder’s signature.
Should the move materialise, Tentani would become one of the notable additions to ZESCO United’s rebuilding project as the club looks to challenge for domestic honours and a return to continental football.
For now, Mufulira Wanderers bid farewell to a player who brought creativity and energy to their midfield, while attention turns to where the next chapter of his career will unfold.
