Take football at heart, Felix Katongo advises Chipolopolo

Zambian legend Felix Katongo has advised the Chipolopolo Boys to die a little for the country.

The 2012 AFCON winner has also reminded the Enock Mwepu captained side that Zambia used to qualify to Africa’s premier football showpiece with the bulk of the team comprising local players.

The former Green Buffaloes winger was the star for the Copper Bullets at the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

“Guys we used to qualify without professional players but now we have everything we have FAZ Government they are there for you,”- Katongo wrote on Facebook.

The Copper Bullets suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Elephants on Match Day One of the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Next up Chipolopolo host the Comoros on Tuesday at the National Heroes Stadium.

Tickets for Tuesday’s match are on sale across Shoprite outlets via Computicket with prices ranging from K50-K200. Kickoff is at 18:00 hours CAT.

  2. We are lacking succession planning in football administration. We need to blend old players with this new generation. Look at ivory coast it had old players who payers who played in 2012 and that is why they did better than us.
