Powerful Power Dynamos will continue their hunt for a third ABSA Cup title on Saturday when the semi-finals of ten prestigious club competition comes alive at Arthur Davies Stadium.
The two time ABSA Cup Champions will tomorrow take on Ndola based outfit, Forest Rangers in the semi finals of the 2023 ABSA Cup.
Power beat Mighty Mufulira Wanderers in the quarter finals while Forest Rangers edged Green Buffaloes to secure a place in the last four.
The fans who are already hyped for an exciting and interesting match are expected to turn up in numbers with tickets currently on sale in ShopRite stores countrywide via Computicketing from as low as K50.
During a pre-match press briefing Power Dynamos head coach Mwenya Chipepo said he is happy to have reached this far and without underrating their opponents he remains optimistic that they will reach the final and definitely win the cup.
“We are happy that we are participating in this tournament because it has been long since we did so,we will ensure that we win the cup,” Chipepo said.
“We are not facing a very weak team, Forest Rangers is doing well in the league and we respect them for that. We know it is not going to be easy but we will do it.”
Chipepo believes his team underperformed at home, stating the fact that fans were not there to cheer on them.
He has since assured the fans of a good result as a welcoming gesture After playing 5 home matches without them following a ban for spectators by the Football Association of Zambia FAZ.
“Tomorrow we will just make sure we enjoy the game and make the fans happy,” Chipepo told the ZamFoot Crew.
Both teams are speaking the same language, which is winning the Cup.
Forest Rangers assistant coach Owen Kaposa says their target is winning the Tournament having never won any and that is their motivation going into the game against Power Dynamos.
“We are ready for the match,we have never won the cup,Power has tasted the sweet and we too want to taste it,” he said.
Having a couple of experienced Players that have Played the Cup before like Allan Chibwe and Shadrick Malambo, Kaposa thinks it’s an added advantage for the team.
“They will convey the message on how important this cup is and what it is all about. They have tasted the Sweet and Know what is supposed to be done,” he said.
Fole Malembe are unbeaten in the last five League meetings against Power Dynamos but Kaposa does not want to use that analogy heading into the match tomorrow.
“Winning these past games doesn’t give us an advantage, We should give Power Dynamos the respect they deserve, they are topping the league and playing good football and so tomorrow’s game will be up to the team that will take chances,” he said.
Power Dynamos and Forest Rangers will square off tomorrow at 15:00 hrs at Arthur Davies Stadium for a place in the final of the 4.4 Million rich competition.
The Champions of the 2023 edition will walk away with K700,000 while the runners up will pocket K350,000.
