Green Eagles Women set to appoint Enala Phiri as new head coach

ZPL Women’s Super League side Green Eagles Women are set to appoint former Copper Queens head coach Enala Phiri as their new head coach, the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.

The experienced coach is expected to take charge of the Zambia National Service (ZNS)-backed side following the departure of Albert Mphande, whose contract was terminated by the club last month.

Phiri is currently in charge of Konkola Blades Queens, a position she took up in June 2025 after signing a three-year contract with the Chililabombwe-based club.

She is now expected to replace Mphande, who was relieved of his duties on 28 August 2026.

In a statement, ZNS confirmed Mphande’s departure, saying:

“The Zambia National Service (ZNS) wishes to inform the general public, stakeholders, supporters and the football fraternity that Mr Albert Mphande’s appointment as Head Coach of Green Eagles Women Football Club has been terminated with effect from 28 August 2026.

The public and all stakeholders are therefore advised to take note that Mr Mphande is no longer the Head Coach of Green Eagles Women Football Club.

The Zambia National Service appreciates Mr Mphande’s contribution to Green Eagles Women Football Club during his tenure and wishes him well in his future assignment.”

Phiri brings considerable experience to Green Eagles, having previously coached the Zambia women’s national team, the Copper Queens.

At Konkola Blades Queens, she guided the side to a seventh-place finish in their debut season in the ZPL Women’s Super League.

Her expected appointment comes as Green Eagles prepare for the next phase of the Women’s Super League, with the club looking to build on its campaign under a new technical setup.
