Power Dynamos midfielder Prince Mumba has penned an emotional farewell message to the club following his departure to pursue a new chapter with an Asian-based side, bringing an end to a memorable spell that saw him establish himself as one of the club’s key leaders.
Mumba, who joined the Kitwe giants in 2024, leaves Arthur Davies Stadium having played a pivotal role in one of the most successful periods in the club’s recent history.
The diminutive midfielder was instrumental as Power Dynamos secured back-to-back MTN Super League titles and earned the trust of the club’s leadership, who appointed him deputy captain.
In a heartfelt message addressed to the club’s sponsors, executive committee, technical staff, teammates and supporters, Mumba expressed his gratitude for the faith shown in him throughout his time at the seven-time Zambian champions.
“I am deeply humbled and honoured by the opportunity you entrusted to me as team deputy captain. To be given the responsibility of leading such a historical club has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” Mumba wrote.
“I do not take the confidence you placed in me lightly, and I have strived every day to uphold the values of Power Dynamos on and off the pitch.”
The former Zambia U20 national team captain reflected on how the club had shaped him both as a footballer and as a person, describing Power Dynamos as more than just a team.
“Power Dynamos is more than a football club to me. It is a family, a home, and a place where character is built,” he said.
“From the day I arrived, you received me as a son and mentored me as your own child. Your guidance, discipline and belief in me have been instrumental to my growth. Under your leadership, I have grown in wisdom, mental strength and as a more responsible player and teammate.”
Mumba also reserved special praise for the club’s passionate supporters, affectionately known as “Aba Yellow Aba Busaka”, thanking them for standing by him throughout his journey.
“You didn’t just support a player. You became family. And family doesn’t end when the jersey changes,” he wrote.
“Arthur Davies has been my home. A new chapter is opening. But this is not a goodbye to you. This is, ‘We’ll meet again on the pitch.’ The bond we built here goes with me.”
His departure marks the end of a successful chapter for both player and club, with Mumba leaving as a two-time league champion and one of the influential figures in Power Dynamos’ domestic dominance.
While the midfielder is set to begin a fresh challenge in Asia, his farewell message underlined the deep connection he forged with the club and its supporters.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for every chant, every prayer, every message, and every moment,” Mumba concluded.
For Power Dynamos, Mumba departs not only with silverware but with the admiration of a fanbase that embraced him as one of their own.
For the player, the next destination may be thousands of kilometres away, but the memories of Arthur Davies Stadium and the Yellow Family will remain a defining part of his career.
