Reigning MTN Super League Champions, Power Dynamos have been drawn against Sudanese giants Al Merreikh in the preliminary round of the 2026-27 CAF Champions League.
According to the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League 2026/27 draw conducted in Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday, Power Dynamos will be away to Al Merreikh on the window of 4-6 September before hosting their opponents a week later.
The winner over two legs will face either JS Saoura of Algeria or Horoya AC of Guinea.The winner of that encounter will then qualify to the group stage of Africa’s premier competition.
Dynamos won the 2025/2026 MTN Super League, their ninth title after accumulating 78 points from 34 league games, it was also a second title in row. They are currently in South Africa for a pre-season camp.
Abayellow will be looking to build on the club history they made last season when they reached the group stages for the first time.
The Kitwe giants remain the only Zambian club to have won a continental trophy, lifting the CAF Cup Winners’ Cup in 1991.
