Ponga writes to FIFA for clarification over FAZ turmoil

Football Association of Zambia, FAZ General Secretary Ponga Liwewe has written to World football governing body, FIFA over the turmoil which has engulfed Football House.

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga has suspended his vice Richard Kazala alongside committee member Blackwell Siwale for allegedly misappropriating K150,000 ticket money but the duo have challenged their suspension.

“As you might be aware, the President of FAZ, Andrew Kamanga suspended Vice President Richard Kazala and committee member Blackwell Siwale under the provision of article 28 (2) of the FAZ constitution,” Ponga has been quoted in Zambia Daily Mail.

“The two and the remaining executive members have challenged the suspension on grounds that the correct procedure as provided for under article 28 (2) was not followed and therefore the suspension is null and void.

“The president, however, maintains he acted as mandated and therefore arising out of this there is a stand off in relation to the two positions . It is therefore unanimously agreed that the matter be forwarded to FIFA for guidance/determination.

There has been exchange of words in the local media between the two parties.

  1. Lol!!!! So these people’s argument is that proper procedure was followed, not that they are innocent of any wrong doing.

Isn’t there supposed to be an investigation?

  2. If procedure was not followed by Kamanga, but money was chewed by Kazala; which is more grave as far as the FAZ constitution is concerned and?! Procedural lapses can be rectified, but how do you deal with a thief who has the support of other executive members????! Unless the money was earmarked to be shared by the commitee members without the knowledge of Kamanga! In the past was this standard practice???

  3. there is an invisible hand trying to frustrate kamanga. that’s why anti corruption was commanded to clear kazala more quaker than any other case they have ever handled even if it was they, themselves who confirmed that money was given to kazala which never reached the coffers.
